  • Great cutter - does NOT work with recommended 5000 consumables
Style: 55A Pilot Arc NON-HF 3/4“ Clean Cut
Nice unit. Worked just as predicted. Made it easy to cut the bars to get out of the county jail (just kidding). Do NOT order the recommended accessory package of consumables. These are for the 5000 unit. The 5500 takes a different tip system and you'll need to go to the Lotos web page (not Amazon page) to buy them. Update: You can't kill this thing. Cut over 400 holes in steel putting together a building. It just keeps going. MORE than cost effective over a magnetic drill and I still have more uses. Only down side, wish the grounding lead was longer. ... show more

  • Product works well, excellent customer support.
Style: 55A Pilot Arc NON-HF 3/4“ Clean Cut
Good machine - great customer support. I've been using this cutter for prosumer / farm & ranch level use, sometimes on pretty think steel, 1/4 & 5/16. I don't have tons of hours on the machine yet but it works pretty good for the price. It strikes a nice arc and cuts very clean even on old metal with lots of scale and rust. Early on I had an issue with the first machine I received but the company did an exceptional job of making it right and extended the warranty on the replacement unit after I notified them it had been sitting in my garage for 4 months before I had a chance to test it. All around I'm very happy with the machine and was very pleased with the customer service. My only complaint is that the ground cable is significantly shorter than the torch lead but it looks like it can be replaced with 2 gauge welding cable up to about 12 feet. ... show more

  • Fantastic for what it is!
Style: 55A Pilot Arc NON-HF 3/4“ Clean Cut
I bought this plasma cutter for my workshop and from what i can tell already, this thing is fantastic. I have used it on 120V and 240V and so far it has handled everything that i have thrown at it from 26 gauge all the way to some 1/2" steel. I have also cut some 3/8" aluminum with it and from what i can tell it will suffice for everything that I will ever do with it. I also should mention that i forgot the ground lead on a piece that i was cutting and managed to cut through 3/8" thick 1.5"x1.5" angle iron before i realized and i could barely notice the difference. The pilot arc works fantastically for cutting through paint and rust. Also I have at least 20 hours of cutting in this and I still haven't had to change the consumables. It has a post flow of air with the 4T setup and it works very well for prolonging the tip. I cannot express how handy this thing is and how i wished i could have gotten this sooner. PS: this isn't a paid review. just a very satisfied customer. UPDATE: 1 year of use After one year of use I can say that I still love this machine. I have gone through some different name brand consumables at this point but to say the least, this thing is a BEAST! I have used it to cut through rust, scale, paint, and even my glove (from my own stupid mistake). The pilot arc is unbelievable. On a separate note, there are two things that I didn't like about this machine. One is that the ground clamp is extremely cheap. It was an easy fix just to buy a good one. Two is that the AMP knob is not precise. Sometimes it wants to jump up and down while being turned. Now this being said once it is set, it will hold where the display reads. I keep mine at 53 amps. As for people complaining about it not shutting off immediately after flicking the switch, I can safely say that it only does this when the internals are hot. and as soon as it cools the unit down it automatically shuts off. ... show more

  • Hi performance machine. Expensive consumables! Your torch might be opened for testing.
Style: 55A Pilot Arc NON-HF 3/4“ Clean Cut
This review is in no way sponsored. We bought it outright. Well worth it! This unit is the best tool I own. Period. I own a formidable collection. In just a few days it has increased productivity in a small shop such that the unit has already paid for itself. That being said, there are some issues. Two stars subtracted for the issues. One added for the really really patient and nice customer service. 1. The lotos brand consumables for this unit are EXTREMELY expensive. $110 for ten tips and five electrodes is BONKERS! I call shenanigans! The torch itself is an IPT 60. Using other consumables voids the warranty, (Ahhh, but how would they know?) so use them at your own risk. Someone who isn't me thinks the generic consumables are awesome in this torch. I only use genuine lotos consumables, of course! ;) Also, lotos only makes 1 kind of consumable package for this torch. SMH! One of the main features of a real IPT 60 torch is the various cup / tip / electrode configurations. If lotos wants to corner the market on consumables, they should at least attempt to make a full line of working tips, not generic metal cutting for $110 as the only option. The icing on the consumable cake: You get the one tested set and two replacement tips / electrodes. As in, you should order consumables with this unit because you wont be cutting long with this tiny set of tips. 2. When I received my cutter the package had clearly been opened. The plasma torch itself had definitely been opened and looked like it had been used. Holy smokes I'm on the line with customer service with the quickness. A very pleasant man answered and after listening to my short but intense rant, he calmly explained that the units are tested before shipping out. I looked again at the package and it did indeed look perfect other than the torch being used. Upon even closer inspection I noted that the torch was BARELY used. I looked at the electrode and could see that the hafnium insert was intact, although it also showed signs of minor use. The thing has a 30 day warranty, so I figured I should listen to the very nice man and at least give the machine a try. So I head outside with a case of peak skepticism. One cut. 3/8ths steel. Love. And to the very nice man: You were right. The tip was markedly different after just one cut. Furthermore, after many cuts it was in AMAZINGLY good condition. Compared to a Cut50 or even an ltp5000d the consumables last at least twice as long. (However!!! This is a function of the torch, not some quality of the overpriced electrodes / tips.) It really conserves consumables! It is hard to overstate the performance of this unit. Combined with the ultimate portability, I could not be happier. Slices through thick steel. 4t is awesome. A 20 gallon 155 psi craftsman is way more than enough compressor for hand cutting. Cuts are clean. Slag / dross if any is minimal. 220v on a 50 amp breaker didnt even get warm. Honestly amazing. For the price, it should be. But yeah, it definitely is. ... show more
