  • Great guitar for kids, but beware sharp frets
I've been playing for guitar for 25+ years. My daughter (11) started playing about 2 years ago and was interested in an electric. Shopped around for small body Squires and the like but they all had a very rough, cheap feel. I was also looking for something that had a built in speaker for fun and convenience. Found the Loog, did some homework and pulled the trigger. Bought two of them to compare build quality and they were nearly identical. They played very well, sounded good - especially plugged into an external amp - and looked great. The big BUT here is that the fret edges at (top and bottom) were VERY sharp. Sharp to the point that I was concerned she'd cut her hand playing. This isn't uncommon on value/budget guitars, but it is an issue. However, if you're comfortable doing so you can hand finish the frets which will make it much, much more pleasurable to play. Included a link to fret end file and you can find plenty of videos on youtube to help you through this process. It's only a little intimidating, but once you get going I'd say the whole project takes about 2 hours. https://www.amazon.com/FretGuru-Ultimate-Fret-End-File/dp/B013ZHK4DM/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl1&tag=doddud-20&linkId=bdefc2a612ab7e08cdc32d4c202bd0c4 ... show more

  • It's this for an adult? Yeah, it's fun
So I bought this for myself. I thought it looked cool and was overall intrigued. I gotta say the pickup isn't very hot, so metal chugging isnt the best thing to do. I have tuned this thing in drop D and played some more heavy riffs and it sounded pretty good. The clean tones are VERY nice on the ears. So the built in amp is awful. It's not as bad as I thought though. It's so much fun to see it in action. It is so helpful when you just want to practice, or crank out some riffs on the couch. On the other hand I don't think we expected a built in amp to sound amazing. One more thing to note is build quality. No extending fret edges which blew my mind. It actually stays in tune really really well. I'm super impressed and recommend this to you if you want one, or to give to a beginner. It also comes with flash cards of 50 plus chords so that's neat. ... show more

  • FALLS SHORT
Color: White
I really wanted to like this guitar and I pretty much liked everything about it except the 1 huge major reason for buying it that failed. And that is the built in amp. That was my absolute main reason for the purchase and then it being small. The built in amp is absolutely horrible sounding even at low volume. I can't understand how quality control even passes it. I thought maybe I just got a defective model then I did some deep research and found numerous reviews with the same exact complaint. I did hook it up to my mini amp with my equipment cable and it sounded really good. But like I said the main reason for my purchase was the built in amp. Saved my money for months to afford this for myself cause I'm home most of the time cause I'm disabled and get bored. The guitar itself is extremely nice, feels good. Just that amp ruins the whole thing. It's a shame cause it really is a nice cool looking guitar. ... show more

  • Great all around
I got this for my girls and think I'll keep it for myself until they're old enough. It's great for kids and for a fun instrument to lounge with.
