  • Product was used
Parts & screws missing, contacted Longevity..They send parts. Waited a couple weeks, put product together. Product did not work. Contacted Longevity and they sent a second unit. Waited another couple weeks. This one also looked used, product had been opened as screws were laying in box. Put back together and the Product blew up after using it a short time. Contacted Longevity again, they offered to send a third one. We did not want to wait for a third one that would obviously be used. We do not blame Amazon....Longevity is the company that is to blame, sending us not once, but twice, a unit that was used! It is too late to ask Amazon for a refund, but we used AMEX to pay for the product and we will dispute the charge. ... show more

  • Best budget plasma cutter on the market.
For the people complaining about longevity not supporting the machine you bought from a reseller... This is the way all of the industrial equipment companies do their support. You have to go back through the reseller you bought it from and they can contact the manufacturer. Hypertherm won't even talk to an end user, they will hang up on you if you are not a reseller. All of that said, I bought my plasma cutter directly from longevity and have gotten top notch support from them, way better support than I have gotten on machines costing 10x as much. The machine has performed flawlessly for the 2 years I've owned it, and the consumables seem to be indestructible. I even use drag tips on the torch, which are known to be destructive of consumables and they still seem to last forever. The cuts are smooth and precise. It performs like a high dollar cutter for a budget price. ... show more

  • good plasma cutter for the price
This is a good tool to have around the home for projects but maybe not ideal for heavy commercial use. I like this plasma cutter very much but the digital numbers that show the amps I am running it at are not accurate anymore after just a few uses. You can still set the dial which will give you an idea of the amps you are running and it still seems to work okay. Uses the same torch head as harbor freights plasma cutter and consumables are interchangeable. ... show more

  • works when wants too
My plasma cutter works like a dream when it wants to work meaning the tip is lose and have to wrap the handle with electric tape because they over tightened the screw right behind the nozzle and I couldn't return or swap because when I finally pulled it out of the box to use it had passed the return time period and the consumable pack that they show with frequently bought together don't buy it won't work or fit made for completely different machine ... show more

  • Great Purchase, First Plasma Cutter, YouTube links of video review in comments!!!
First plasma cutter purchase and I am pleasantly satisfied. I did have to work on the torch when I pulled it out of the box, though. I wasn't getting any action when I pulled the trigger and after disassembling the torch I found a bad solder connection on one of the trigger leads. Once I repaired it, it started up and has been working fine since. Check out my UNBOXING and FIRST-USE videos here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgoekiNtDII After fixing the cheap-o torch I wondered how many units had been returned just because of one tiny little solder connection. Pros: Small but powerful, price, built-in air separator, good looking unit Cons: Torch repair right out of the box, barbed fitting for the air connection that cannot be replaced with a threaded fitting, post-bleed time for the air purge is not adjustable (about 15 seconds) uses a lot of air unnecessarily, no after-hours tech support Cons costed this unit 2 stars. Otherwise, it's a 5-star purchase. ... show more

  • worked fine. I had a project in mind when I ...
I bought this unit June 22 2014. Put it together and used it about five minutes, worked fine. I had a project in mind when I bought it so it's been sitting for four months. I plugged it up and cut about two inches and it stopped. I replaced the consumables still didn't work. I called Longevity which sent me to their tech guy via e-mail. After hours of e-mails he tells me to tighten tips and I should be good to go, really? I informed him they were tight and didn't hear from him til the next day. The next day he turns it over to the warranty dept. By the way their consumer services suck. They gave me the run around for hours then advised me to get a refund through Amazon. I explained it's not Amazon's place to honor the warranty on their product, their answer was just try it, I declined. So now they want me to ship it to them $120.00 in total shipping. My guess is these are probably good machines and I just got a dud. But their consumer dept is the worst I've ever dealt with if you have a problem your pretty much on your own. ... show more

  • Excellent Machine
I am very pleased with the ForceCut 40D. It has worked flawlessly since I first turned the machine on. I have used the machine for several hours and cut mild steel from 1/8 inch up to 1 full inch thick. I know that it is not rated for 1 inch steel, but I just had to try and see if it would cut it and was pleasantly surprised to find that it could (90 PSI and 40 AMPS on 220 volts takes about 15 seconds per inch of travel). I have also cut up to 1/4 inch mild steel running on 110 volts. You will need a dedicated 20 amp circuit for 110 volts or you will trip a breaker. The owners manual does not contain any charts with suggested values for the air pressures and amperages to use, so you get to learn by trial and error. I am mostly cutting 3/16 and 1/4 mild steel and I find that using 70 PSI and 30 AMPS on 220 volts works well for me. ... show more

  • Support, Warranty, and Customer Service is a JOKE!
I used the machine a few times (and it did work fine), but because they could not find me in their system, I could not get any warranty when the unit -just stopped working-. and if i were to send it in to get "repaired" i was told it would cost more than a new unit!?! Do yourself a favor if you looking for a non-name brand plasma cutter get a prime weld.. the warranty lasts 3 years, and they are customer first. Also, much cheaper... *I Highly, HIGHLY, Recommend you stay away from Longevity products until they fix the warranty/repair/help of their units. ... show more
