Tested it today inside to be prepared for the winter and make sure that everything is working fine so I can be confident to not hurt any animals when using it outside and it worked very well. It melted the large bucket of ice and then heated it up to around 100f (s. pic) and then cooled down to room temperature, which is of course above the minimum temp of 68f and hence it didn't turn on again - exactly as it is described. I also checked the maximum power consumption and it was always slightly below 70W (s. pic) so you don't have to be worried that it would pull huge amount of power in a sudden when it's cold. The power consumption is always exactly the same while it's heating. After that it goes to zero consumption until it starts heating again. I've been touching the water and nothing has happened so it seems to be good insulated from the electricity, which is also important to protect the animals. Cable is not very long, so expect to use an extension cord. Everything seems to be solid build. The heater has some holes for faster heat-up inside, but to protect against burns outside. The heating donut is lots heavier than water, so it sinks to the ground and stays there. Solid construction as far as I can see.

The media could not be loaded. My wife wanted one to keep in our backyard for bird bath setup near the feeder that we have. I am happy with this product. It does the job and would highly recommend this. My 2 cents below: Pros: - Unique design & very functional heater. Works great for the purpose - Very small in size and hence should fit most of the bathtubs you have for birds - Heater is well built & very durable product, especially for something that is kept outdoors all the time - Easy to install - Very reasonably priced for this functionality when we compare to options that we saw in local supermarkets before purchasing this Cons: - None that we see for this price and the quality

I placed the heater in the birdbath beginning of November when the temperatures promised to get colder and perhaps some nights of freezing. Obviously the temperatures never fell below freezing at this time, but the first freezing day, the bird bath froze up. The heater was encased in ice so no brainer the heater does not work. I tested the outlet to be sure and confirmed the heater was at fault. Too late to return. Piece of junk.
