  • Logic Pro X is an excellent path to understanding Logic Pro X for an in ...
Logic Pro X is an excellent path to understanding Logic Pro X for an in depth overview and guide to the in depth, formulas, functions and benefits. However, as with and after market product, to get the real nuts and bolts of Logic Pro, you need the Logic Pro X Manual, or the Logic Pro X Power Manual. I t i\can be exhuasting reading a Tech Manual of any kind, I would actually recommend first purchasing the Logic Pro X for Dummy's, and the n the Pro Tools X manual. You can find great used and new bargains, in good shape on Amazon, so you will not be tied up in a large amount of money. I would reading the logic Pro X for Dummy's to familiarize yourself with Logic Pro, then use the manual for individual tasks you want to learn. Both are excellent, and extremity compatible together I have found. ... show more

  • A good introduction to a complex product.
Logic Pro X is a daunting product. It is so large and complex that it takes a lot of learning. I understand how DAWs work because I was a Sonar user but when I switched to Logic Pro I was baffled. This book helped a lot. It is not a reference manual and does not go into great depth. What it does do is give you an introduction to the software so that you can begin developing the skills you need to build a workflow. If you are new to Logic Pro and want help in getting started, you may find this book accessible and useful. It will not make you an expert but I suspect that takes a couple of years. ... show more

  • Indispensable!
Indispensable! I've been recording with Logic Pro X for some time, and I wish I'd had this book from Day One. It's the clearest, most accessible book of its kind that I've found. My only wish is that the illustrations were larger and in color... but of course that would make for an expensive book. (Also the author has a subscriber-based website with videos that complement the book beautifully.) For someone starting with Logic, I can't imagine a more useful tool in print. Even if you've been at it for awhile as I have, Logic is so deep that it's easy to overlook useful functions and form bad habits. BTW this book is also available as an e-book, which is great for search on my iPad. Still I like pulling my paper copy out. It's all hi-lited and marked up--I call it my studio bible. ... show more

  • Helpful Book
While this book has a copyright of 2014, it is very useful to me since I had no knowledge of how to run Logic Pro. I will be purchasing the current version of Logic Pro rather than using GarageBand. I have been using Pro Tools LE 8 for many years, but since I need to replace my old Imac, I am switching to Logic Pro. ... show more

  • Not The Easiest to Follow
I admit to being fairly new to recording, but having mastered Garagage Band on both iPad and Mac Book, I figured I was ready for Logic Pro X, with the help of this highly recommended book. Frankly, I am disappointed. I feel the organization is weak, as it jumps around (to me) in an illogical way. The index, I feel, is weak for a manual of this complexity. My needs are simple...multitrack vocals and acoustic instruments, as a singer/songwriter. But the combination of the above issues and hard-to-decipher black and white screen shots has left me frustrated. ... show more

  • It's a great read and easy to understand
I found this book to be a valuable reference in my own music production. I often go back to it for tips and reference. It's a great read and easy to understand. Graham focuses on the fundamentals and offers keen insight on how to approach using Logic Pro X. Again, this book is highly recommended for music producers and home studio hobbyists no matter what level or skill set you may be at. Applying and studying Logic Pro X for Dummies will certainly help your music get to the next level. ... show more

  • You'll be glad you bought it
Graham English has written this for you to be able to make music. Written as not to be too stuffy, there's a sense of friendly familiarity peppered between the explanations, reasons, ways and means of the book. Not the final word on Logic Pro X by any means, but a great way to familiarize yourself with the program and have some fun while learning practical application and function. There's a lot to learn and Graham covers the essentials, introduces you to the workings of the "bells & whistles" and even uncovers gems to put the polish on your project. For the experienced Logic user a great reference to have at hand. ps . . .The Web materials and cheat sheets are and added bonus too. Logic Pro X for Dummies is well worth the money I spent for it. ... show more

  • The right book for me
This is what I was looking for; not too complicated and also has a chapter on orchestral instruments. So many of the books these days only concern themselves with electronic and rock instruments (and I understand that) because that is what's popular these days, but for the rest of us we should be given some information on handling the rest of the orchestra and it's relation to the software and how to modify them. ... show more
