  • Very Clear, Biblical, and Helpful for my High School Ministry
Format: Paperback
This book provides clear and simple language for tackling this complex and fraught topic. In the context I minister, this topic comes up on a weekly basis. To have a clear and deep book that is easy for any student to pick up and read is such a gift. I am so grateful for Dr. Sprinkle's work to present a work that clearly communicates the gospel to the students reading his book and helps challenge the reader to be more like Jesus. ... show more

  • A Great Guide for Understanding LGBT Questions
Format: Kindle
This book was written for teen readers 15 years ago and older, but I think many adults can benefit from reading this book. While I don’t agree with some of the author’s specific advice in the last chapter of this book, the author still does an excellent job of explaining different concepts and issues related to homosexuality and transgenderism, as well as laying out the Bible’s teaching on this subject. I also greatly appreciate how the author emphasizes throughout this book that when we’re talking about the issue of homosexuality, we’re talking about people, many of whom have gone through horrific experiences because of how Christians (and sometimes others) have reacted to their disclosures about their same-sex attractions and/or behaviors. I definitely recommend this book for parents and teenagers as we all continue to wrestle with this contentious issue. ... show more

  • A Great Book!
Format: Paperback
I purchased the kindle version of this book to screen it for my teenager, then ordered the paperback for her to read. In a world filled with confusing messages and influences that are directly opposed to my beliefs, I was SO glad to find this book. It breaks down the Christian doctines in a way that doesn't feel judgmental or hateful. Everything is explained so clearly and the author does a great job of having a relatable conversation so as not to come across harsh. I am hopeful that this book is accepted by a teenager who is on the brink of questioning these things because of peer influence. I have had conversations already that have informed me of the nature of the issue, and it's not like a "born this way" situation. I truly hate that the media practically forces sexuality and sexual immorality on children and teens, and I am thankful for this book as a tool to delve deeper into these issues. ... show more

  • Compassionate, Great Resource
Format: Kindle
I’m a college pastor who has continually wanted a biblical, compassionate resource to give to students and youth who are either struggling with same sex attraction or trying to figure out what the Bible says about homosexuality. I love that over and over Sprinkle reminds us that “homosexuality isn’t about an issue, it’s about people” who are loved by God and made in His image. I will be recommending this book as a resource in the future. ... show more

  • Absolute rubbish
Format: Kindle
The author clearly did NOT do research for this book and is simply toeing the standard church line. The Bible says nothing about homosexuality! In fact, the word homosexual (and heterosexual for that matter) we're not even coined until the mid 1860s. So how did a 19th century word get into 1st century writing? What are we really talking about? The truth: women were property in biblical times. Men having sex with other men meant one had to takes the female role thereby lowering himself to the status of a woman. THAT is the abomination, friends! The top is free and clear. The bottom is reviled. Also remember that while Leviticus is often cited, the church ignores Deuteronomy where it says to stone the adulterous woman. Jesus didn't throw the rock. Can't cherry pick the LAW. Ignore this book. ... show more

  • Very highly recommend
Format: Paperback
One of the best resources out there for helping students think critically and biblically on how to engage their gay friends and family members with both the grace and truth of Jesus Christ. This is not an emotion-driven book, venting frustration at the Church or anything of that nature. It is a thoughtful engagement with Scripture, loving critique of past mistakes Christians have made, and a legitimate stance and discussion on what the Bible says about homosexuality and how that should inform how we engage with the world around us. ... show more
