In the journey to ensure my mother's medication routine, the LiveFine 28-Day Automatic Pill Dispenser emerged as a true hero. Over 9 months of use, it has been an invaluable tool in managing her medication with ease. Setting up the dispenser for multiple daily doses was relatively straightforward, with the only hiccup being the initial timer adjustment. Once conquered, the unit proved its worth, rotating the pill tray and emitting a loud, clear alarm—a perfect volume for my 85-year-old mother. Living with moderate Alzheimer's, my mother relies on the dispenser's alarm, faithfully getting up to take her medication. However, a minor design flaw became evident: the word "Open" on the lip confused her initially, leading to repeated attempts to lift the tab instead of sliding open the door. With repetition, she adapted, but omitting the confusing label could enhance user experience. Despite a slight drift in timers over time, a negligible 13-minute difference at 9 months, the LiveFine dispenser has proven durable. It endured attempts to force open the lid with a spoon, showcasing its robust locking mechanism. The lid remains stress-free and easy to fill with medication and vitamins. Speaking of vitamins, even gel-based ones pose no challenge. Occasionally sticking inside, they are effortlessly removed with your finger. Remarkably, the original batteries are still going strong after 9 months. In summary, the LiveFine 28-Day Automatic Pill Dispenser is a recommendation without hesitation. Our LiveFine 28-day medicine dispenser doesn’t work using lithium-ion batteries. Our devise malfunctions at the designated alarm time: the screen turns off momentarily and then defaults to an incorrect time. The alarm doesn’t sound, the light doesn’t flash, and the wheel doesn’t rotate to dispense the medicine. Our dispenser will stay in this non-operative mode until we re-install alkaline batteries and then re-set the clock and alarm time. We use the dispenser for a relative’s medicine at their house. We monitor the relative and the dispenser’s operation remotely using a security camera and we drive to the relative’s house (~4 hours round trip) at least every few weeks to replenish the dispenser (unfortunately, but understandably, the relative’s caregiver won’t fill the dispenser for liability reasons). After more than a year of daily, trustworthy use of the dispenser, we noticed that the dispenser’s clock was running behind the actual time. Consequently, we replaced the original alkaline batteries provided with the dispenser with new lithium-ion batteries. That night, the alarm didn’t sound, the light didn’t flash, and the wheel didn’t rotate to dispense the medicine. I drove back to the house the next day to evaluate the medicine dispenser malfunction. The clock displayed an incorrect time, but the alarm time was correct. I assumed that I had somehow set the clock incorrectly after I installed the lithium-ion batteries. I reset the clock and monitored the dispenser several hours and left only after the device appeared to track the correct time. However, the dispenser didn’t work again that night. I returned to the house, and replaced the original dispenser with a new dispenser and took the original dispenser home to evaluate. The dispenser worked as designed using alkaline batteries but failed to operate each time using multiple sets of new lithium-ion batteries. At the designated alarm time (in this case, 8:15 p.m.), the dispenser’s clock automatically switches to 6:00 p.m. and the device doesn’t alarm or dispense medicine whenever it’s operating with lithium-ion batteries. I couldn’t find mention of this lithium-ion battery limitation in the directions that came with the dispenser or on the Internet. This time-consuming, costly issue caused us a great deal of problems. In my opinion, don’t use lithium-ion batteries in the LiveFine medicine dispenser.
