    • Good prep for pre-school or day care but not for listening to Parent in every day life.
I have most of the books by Verdick in this early learning series. Great books to help prepare my child for things like Bedtime or distinguish different things like bedtime from Naptime. My kiddo loves Clean Up Time. I sing a little song while reading the book and improv whenever I need to. My child follows along and is more cooperative because she sees the illustrations of the children "cleaning up". Listening time is good illustrate that "ears" are for listening to the grown up give instructions, but the book is geared to day care or preschool environment prep for listening to the teacher and getting ready to sit quietly for story time or circle time. I wished this book was geared toward helping a child grasp the concept of listening to Parents instructions as in our every day lives, we do not have circle time. ... show more

My daughter loves this book. I think it really helps her, too. She's a toddler, right at the age where she does indeed have a hard time listening of course. The book reads like a song or kind of rap - I read it with rhythm and she loves it! She does the commands in it (sit criss-cross, apple sauce, hands on knees, please - she recites this with me as I read it). We remind her of the book's instructions for listening every time she's interrupting, not paying attention to instructions, etc. Great book! ... show more
