As far as bookshelves go this one is nice and sturdy. I believe it took me 2 hours to assemble by myself. The instructions are straight forward and easy to comprehend but I will say if you’re not too much of a handyman you might need a second pair of hands to build. Let me start by saying, I'm a 63 year old woman and I assembled this by myself in about 2 hours -- using only the tools provided in the box. The directions are 23 pages of pictures - no words. It was a little difficult to understand which direction a piece attached to the unit, but I was able to figure it out and was completely pleased with the final product. That said, this is a very nice looking, sturdy shelf unit. I built this to fit inside my closet, under the pole. The size was perfect. I was absolutely thrilled to find this on Amazon! I was changing bedroom furniture to a more modern, farmhouse feel. The bedroom set I was changing to was the Ashley Cambeck Set. I was so worried because I needed bookshelves, but never dreamed that I would find one so nice, durable, and modern as this! It almost matches my bedroom set perfectly (that’s why I told you what bedroom set I had - so you could have an idea of the color this is - I also included a pic of a section of my bedroom furniture to also give you an idea on the color). I never dreamed they made them in this color! I’m so satisfied with this! The wood is very sturdy and heavy! I have multiple photo albums (so a good amount of weight) on each shelf. It supports them perfectly! It doesn’t wobble/move around. It’s a nice, heavy, good quality piece! My daughter did have to assemble it. She said it was very challenging! She said she definitely could have used another person to make assembling easier, and that there were “a lot of little pieces”. It took her a long time to assemble this. She did an excellent job, though! I love this bookshelf so much I bought two of them. I ended up only having room for one. I had to return the other. I had no issues returning the product, or getting my money back (it was still in its unopened box, though)! It was a no hassle return! I am truly satisfied with this purchase!
