  • Zonie, C8, Jelly, Altea, Perles, Nucool Direct Sound Quality Comparison
Size: 2pin-0.78mm, 3.5mm Color: NUCOOL
Yes, I bought all 6 to compare side-by-side. I'm a bit crazy, its true. I'm a longtime audiophile with a particular sensitivity to Pace, Rhythm and Timing(PRaT) above all of the other audiophile attributes. I spent probably at least 7 hours (mostly in the early morning when I'm having trouble sleeping) comparing these 6 cables with mostly the Moondrop Kato and the Tangzu Wan'er IEMs. Various music. Various Sandisk Clip sources. This comparison is by no means exhaustive but I hope many of you will find it useful. My cable characteristic findings held true regardless of the IEM that I was using. My personal interest is mostly in how the cable performs sound-quality wise with few notes about weight or cosmetics. Quotations are my notes. Zonie: This was better sounding than the stock cables that came with my Tangzu Wan'er but the C8 was SO much better for such a small increase in price that I returned these after only a few hours of listening. This is why you don't see it in the photo. Buy these if you absolutely can't spend more. C8:"Percussive leading edge of notes. Energy. Snap. Louder Volume. Exciting". Solid recommendation. Read on. Jelly: "Everything coming from one layer/location. Lack of depth. Lack of decay." Definitely better than stock cables but I cannot recommend them for the price. I liked every other cable here more, regardless of price. Altea: "Decay. Instrument Separation. Integrated. Layers" Just lovely with a nice balance of all of the audiophile attributes. Not as energetic as the C8 but noticeably better overall. Not as good of sound-stage, resolution, decay as the Nucool but better integrated. Not the timing mastery of the Perles but better in more ways. Perles: "Easiest to hear lyrics. Timing. PRaT rightness, cohesive, everything arriving at the right time in relation to other sounds/instruments. Frequently get the "locked on" feeling with these that is really satisfying for my tastes." Does suffer a little to the Altea and Nucool in regards to overall resolution and soundstage. This is THE cable if you're a PRaT listener. The "ribbon" styling may not be everyone's cup-of-tea. Nucool: "Dimensional, separation, resolution, texture, soundstage, bass, decay." This cable is particularly unique among all of the cables. It is the best at doing what I would call "magic tricks" with the sound in terms of soundstage and separation of instruments/sounds. There is a loss of cohesion as compared to the Perles and Altea. This cable is thick and heavy and the most "audio jewelry" like. My overall recommendations: Skip the Zonie and the Jelly. Get the C8 if you can't spend more. I would highly suggest buying the Altea to MOST buyers as it transmits beautiful sound and feels really balanced in its attributes. If you want the highest order in most of the audiophile attributes I would buy the Nucool, as long as you're not a PRaT/coherence guy/gal and can handle the weight and cosmetics. If you're a PRaT/Coherence listener you will think the Perles is special. Do cables make that big of a difference? If you have the equipment and the ear, the difference can be huge. Depending on the equipment it can be a better buy that purchasing more expensive IEMs. I suggest buying a nice cable and swapping it between your iem collection(assuming the connectors are the same of course). I was shocked at how much better the Tangzu Wan'er (my favorite budget IEM)sounded with quality cables. Is it worth it to spend $30 or more on a cable when my IEMS are only $XX? If you have the ear for it and really love your music, it pains me to say "YES". Being in the audio industry I would usually never suggest spending so much on cables in relation to the rest of the system. Would I spend $10 more for the C8 over the Zonie? Easy yes. $10 more for the Altea over the C8? Easy yes. $10 more for the Perles or Nucool over the Altea? For most listeners I would say no(see notes above). For most buyers with discriminating tastes, I would suggest the Altea, particularly if you own multiple IEMs and want to see what they are capable of. I would also suggest waiting for one of the regular sales. ... show more

  • Surprising increase in sound NUCOOL model
Size: MMCX, 3.5mm Color: NUCOOL
I'm a front of house engineer. I'm fairly well attuned to a lot of sound stuff most people don't even hear or care about, which is probably reasonable. I've got a pair of 6 driver custom in ear monitors that are tuned to be flat and be used for reference monitors and those are primarily what I use for both listening to music and for front of house engineering when I need isolation. I recently broke the cable that they came with and found myself looking for a good replacement. I'd heard from some of the musicians and recording guys I work with that these were solid IEM cables and they made a difference in the sound, so I ordered the most expensive one the company makes to see if I'd notice a difference from the stock cable that came with the customs. Right off the bat, bass is punchier and wider. The overall sound stage seems to have opened up a good bit as well. Highs remain perfect as they had with very little discernible difference to me, maybe a little more airy. But the mids and bass are significantly improved. Not exactly more detailed, I don't know that it gets more detailed than they already were, just seem to be opened up a lot more. The cable is heavier and feels dramatically higher quality. The connectors especially are impressively well made with chromed stainless steel (best I can tell anyways). From a visual standpoint it's kind of a blingy cable that is definitely a lot more noticeable than the normal black ones. You feel it on your ears more due to the weight, but if your customs fit well then they're not going anywhere from that little weight. Love the braiding, thought it might not be for everyone. It is a square cable up till the split due to the braiding method. It's a pretty intense cable for an iem. I can't speak to durability, though most break at the connector and these are heavily reinforced and give a really nice spot to grab them to disconnect (mine are mmcx). Really appreciate that. Overall, it's expensive compared to some alternatives that I'm sure would be at least as good as a stock cable. If you are someone that makes money off hearing things right though, it's worth it for $40 vs maybe $20 for a good quality cheaper one. There is a noticeable and significant improvement to imaging, space, and low end with this cable. ... show more

  • Durable but heavy.
Size: 2pin-0.78mm, 3.5mm Color: Moss
Got this because I didn't like how the standard 4-core wire always got twisty. This one stays straight with how it's weaved. It's durable and pretty flexible. I thought it would be stiff with how thick it is, but it isn't. It is a bit heavy though. The wire drags down the earbuds out of my ear often. I'll get an 8-core wire next time. It's weaved similarly but not as heavy. ... show more

  • Feels as good as it looks
Size: 2pin-0.78mm, 3.5mm Color: Blue
Let me rave about the Linsoul Tripowin 0.78mm pin cable—it's a total winner. As someone who's put a few cables through their paces, I'm all about finding one that's both comfy and tough. And let me tell you, the Tripowin cable knocks it out of the park. First things first, the feel of this cable is something else. It's like wrapping yourself in a cozy blanket—it's that soft and smooth. Seriously, they must have some kind of secret recipe for making it feel this good. And it's not just about being comfy—it's built tough too. The connectors fit snugly into my earphones, so I never have to stress about them coming loose. Plus, that braided design? Not only does it look slick, but it also stops the cable from getting all tangled up, even when I'm on the move. Now, let's talk about the little details. The length is just perfect—long enough to give me some freedom, but not so long that it's getting in the way. And those color-coded connectors? Genius. No more fumbling around trying to figure out which side goes where. Oh, and that carrying case? It's like a little safe haven for my cable, keeping it protected when it's not in use. Seriously, if you're in the market for a new cable, you can't go wrong with the Tripowin. It feels as good as it looks, and it's built to last. Trust me, once you try it, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. ... show more
