  • Great for recording (Indie/alternative rock)
Sorry for the late review. I bought this in December 2018, but got the chance to use it until February 2019. First of all, the package was really good packaged. It was received in good order. Secondly, the product itself is amazing. My style of genre is mostly indie/alternative rock. I didn't buy this for heavy metal/djent type of genres (otherwise I would have gone for the Axe FX models). I tried this on a high level on my first try, going through the banks with factory settings. I found out immediately a few good sounds. Next few tries I tried making my own preset/patch. It's easy from the machine itself (also from the software). The sound is really good. The only thing I noticed was a light feedback (I connect it to 2x studio monitors, and fender american professional telecaster). I did a quick google and read that it might be the single coils of the tele. Anyway, I recorded a few songs and didn't hear the feedback. I am a happy customer! ... show more

  • Replacement for effects pedals,
This is a fantastic tool for up to four 1/4" instrumental lines or three lines and one xlr mic. 96khz sampling rate at 24 bit depth makes it sound genuine. With the ability to use custom made impulse response files and numerous effects, eqs, distortions, preamps, amps and cabs, this unit pretty much replaces effects pedal racks. The one downside i can think of is the AC hum on the outputs which will require you to get a hum destroyer or something similar in order to get a clean signal for production. ... show more

  • Windows Software is TERRIBLE
The hardware is amazing and sounds incredible! I couldnt have been more excited about this thing, I could barely make it through work day after playing with it last night! But.... When I went to install the software on my Windows 10 machine the nightmare began. Initially the drivers did not appear to detect the device. It was detected as a USB Composite Device with a bad driver... Hmmmm... Searched the internet... nothing useful. Unplugged, replugged... no change. Installed the Helix app which supposedly includes the driver... computer HARD RESET... yikes. Clearly a driver issue, I went to device manager and attempted to manually select the right driver since it probably wasnt the Microsoft Composite USB Device driver... Found the Helix driver, selected it.. Computer locks up completely. Breathing.... breathing... guess I get to do the hard reset manually this time! Maybe the driver had a bad install. Complete uninstall. Re-install. Computer totally locks up again... i hard reset the machine. Look again for drivers... find two errors on their website - filtering software for Windows 10 shows Macintosh software and the Contact Us/Forum link goes to a Not found page... omg what a janky operation. okay send them some feedback.. Go find the drivers again... hmmm the latest driver says it fixes a crash with Logitech G-suite. I have Logitech G-suite... maybe I installed the wrong driver? Installed it... computer locks up again. UGGH.... I have to hard reset my machine AGAIN?? Okay... hard rest the machine, uninstall G-suite... reboot... Reinstall drivers.. okay! Device appears in the device manager under sound devices! What a $#^&* up experience.. File a support ticket to let them know... Lets update the firmware! Download firmware updater... detects the device! Sweet. Update firmware. Says "device will reboot, this is okay!" Click continue... updating.. updating... PC hard resets AGAIN...... OMFG.... The device boots up with blank everything... sits there for a looooooong time..... Finally I decide.. $^&($ it.... flip the power switch.... device comes up, LCD's have UI, "migrating presets..." ... This is where I am right now with this device.... the unit itself... seems pretty awesome. the software experience on Windows... worst Ive ever seen. Not kidding. Ive seen a lot. This was TERRIBLE. I am waiting for this junk to hard reset PC in the middle of some awesome riff im recording.... ... show more

  • Excellent board
fantastic piece of equipment, limitless combinations, great sound very close to analogic, especially when playing with a band (instead of comparing alone in a studio). Avoids carrying around a full amp

  • Flawed but awesome...!!!
Amazing, inspiring pedal!!!....It's not perfect, no processor is,...but it's got amazing clarity, dynamics, and realistic tube tones...mine was b stock so got It for 1200 rather than 1500,..still a chunk o change,...but it's definitely way better than the pod hd500...I have owned every pod since the original bean, and have loved them all,...this one is definitely the biggest leap forward....so many possibilities....but,...the reason I took a star away is it is digital,...and even with the state of the art dsp, there are imperfections....the biggest being the high end warbling artifacts....certain patches, combos of amp models and reverbs/delays, create this awful very noticeable warble in the high end...one of the presets exibits this trait...(awful),. but,...this has been around since the early days of the pod xt,. (and with other digital delay and reverb stomp boxes)....if you know what to listen for,...and don't use the presets with this anomaly, most patches don't have it....then you are good..but..the preset was called "lead of leads"...so I was drawn to that title,...it's the worst preset of all of them, in my opinion...if you used this for lead on a recording, you'd ruin any mix....but it's an anomaly,...every other tone was free of this warble,..(and if you played only rhythm guitar on this patch, you might not even notice it!!)....so...it's just part of the digital world....of course a real amp is preferable in a high end studio situation....but for me, since I don't have a studio, and can't make noise and disturb the family late at nite,...I splurged for the latest line6...some of the tones I"ve been able to dial up on the first day are epic,..so...I am really loving it, now that I figured out how to assign a foot pedal to an effect, and edit the scribble script,...really a fun and amazing powerful unit...I'm sure it'll be my practice/demo rig for a long time to come...!!! ... show more
