This has always been one of the best “stick” welders produced! Plug it in, set your current, select the proper rod and start welding. The old saying that these old welders could fall off the back of your truck and keep on welding must be pretty accurate. When mine was delivered, the box was really beat up. I took it out of the box, and the housing is bent up pretty bad. I went ahead and assembled the cables and plugged it in and lo and behold, I proceeded to weld with it. The welder is great no question this my secound one had to sell the first due to military moves. The only bad thing is Northern Tool & Equipment who gave me a delivery date. That date came and went and Northern Tool & Equipment was able to send Emails saying I would be responsible for return frieght and restocking fees. The Welder arrived eight days due no falt of mine and the Emails were not appreciated. ... show more

    • Lincoln always has good products
The K1170 was an upgrade from a 120v welder. Keep in mind the welding helmet does not come with the welder, I bought an automatic darkening helmet from Amazon and it really makes striking the arc a snap. I also bought the wheel kit for this machine, to make it more mobile. As for performance it is a strong and will burn through 16 or 18 gauge steel if you are not careful. Also be sure you choose the proper electrodes, don't get them too small or use too many amps or they will turn black (too much heat).
