Perfect fit. Size L . 5 yr old 48 lb, wears size 5/6 clothes. The vest was just right with room to grow. The vest doesn't float up on his neck like his previous floating vest. It is so comfortable with the floats around his lower chest. He is able to swim and move around easily. He is a non swimmer and it definitely keeps him afloat. We are really happy with this purchase. However, the padding for the crotch area was just ok, kind a narrow, wish it was wider, still gets a wedgie. We got the lime green with plaid, he loved it. Bright enough to spot if we take him to public places too.

The media could not be loaded. We go to the lake every weekend in the summer and it took me 5 different life jackets to find the one my son would wear. This one is my all time favorite! He actually begs to put it his one on because it’s so comfortable and he knows he gets to swim. It doesn’t have the head support and the shoulder straps aren’t too big/tight to where he can’t use his arms. It keeps him safe in the lake and I love that it has the single strap between the legs for a little extra safety. This thing is so durable, he wears it every weekend and it still fits like it’s brand new. I do put in on him backwards because he thinks it’s funny to undo the zipper (eye roll) but the back of the jacket is made just like the front so it works perfectly the same even on backwards! He’s 2, 31lbs and this past summer he used the Smaller size, but I’ve already ordered him the next size up for next summer.

This is very high quality and does keep my grandson above water, but he is very skinny and it still pushes up under his chin no matter how tight we try to get it. He switched from the vest with swimmies on his arms to this which I think is the next level of learning to swim. It makes him lay forward and doesn't hold him vertical the way the other vest with arm swimmies allowed, but he does need to learn right?! I think he will grow into it and it will last for many years.

First I want to comment on the negative remarks of others. This is not a PFD but a aid in teaching kids to swim. It allows the proper prone position while also allowing them to float on their back. Even the most anxious little one is comfortable in it and has succeeded in one 1/2 lesson to paddle on their own while blowing bubbles and kicking which is an essential 1st step in learning to swim and being water safe. The removable buoyancy is great and can be adjusted. This is the third jacket I’ve used with my students and the only one that stays down away from their face. The medium size range fits most toddlers and preschoolers. I’ve been a swim instructor for over 50 years and this is by far the best teaching aid I have come across. I have not received any monetary or other incentive for this review.
