Update: down shedding. Well it’s been about 3 weeks and I went to remove my duvet cover to wash it. After removing the down comforter, there was a small down flurry snow storm in my bedroom. All the itty bitty pieces of down that must have been escaping but trapped between the comforter and duvet came out in a huge rush and there are still pieces of down floating around my room thanks to the ceiling fan. Not taking any stars off bc this is to be expected, but I didn’t realize it would be THAT much. Besides that, it has been very comfortable to sleep with through the warmer nights. Just a little irritated that so much down escaped after such a short period of time. Original: As a former bedding department store employee of almost 10 years, who still knows way too much about down comforters due to research and lessons in the industry….i can say without a doubt, this is a fantastic find. It’s an excellent value, especially if you got it with the 20$ coupon when it was on sale. A 90% down and 10% feather ratio at this price is seriously good. And yes, it’s real down! I hardly saw any true feathers with the quills by the way. Straight out of the bag, it was packed small in a fabric case, and again in a plastic bag, but not vacuum sealed. There was no factory smell but it’s important to always wash anything that will come into contact with your skin before you use it. That’s just what I did. I used a very small amount of HE soap in my top load washer, on the delicate cycle with cold water. Then washed it again with no soap on bulky setting to ensure all soap was out, again cold water. Popped it into the dryer with 6 wool dryer balls on low for 20 mins at a time, and fluffed it up inbetween. I did this 3 times so it took about 1 hour to dry and it came out SO FLUFFY. It was perfect. No seams tore, and only like 6 pieces of down came out when I was inserting it into my 100% cotton 500tc duvet cover. I enjoy a smaller baffle box construction because it makes the down stay in place easier. So what you see in the picture is definitely what you get as far as the small box design goes. The care and maintenance of a down comforter should be easy. As long as you keep a duvet cover on it for protection, you rarely need to wash the comforter. Maybe wash it once or twice a year at most in order to maintain the integrity of the down so it doesn’t clump up. And if it does get a little clumpy or limp, repeat the low setting in the dryer with the balls maybe once every few months at most. You can always shake it around to restore the fluffiness. I’ll try to update this review in a few months to a year to see how well this has held up! Another review stated it felt like an angels wing…they were not lying! It’s amazing. Perfect for southern Virginia weather where there’s only 3 truly “cold” months and the rest of the year is mild to sweltering hot. We keep our house typically around the 69-72 degree range and we are hot sleepers at night. One flat sheet, possibly a secondary cotton light blanket and this comforter on top is the best for keeping cool and comfortable. I will say that the comforter is not “silent”. I can definitely hear things moving around when I shift and sometimes it’s crunchy but it is not unpleasant nor is it so loud that I wake from sleep. Take a shot on this one!! It’s good quality!

I ordered the all-season one in white and received it yesterday. After tumbling it in the dryer with wooden balls, I took it out and instantly noticed the loud crinkling noise (similar to the one plastic bags make). I decided to still give it a chance hoping the noise won’t bother me, but every time I moved, the noise from the comforter woke me up. However, this is not the only issue. I have slept under many goose down comforters for the last 15 years. The reasons I love them is 1-they are very light (as in “not heavy”) and 2 - they allow for great air circulation (aka “breathe”). Well friends, this blanket turned out to be neither of those things. I felt shockingly heavy and made me prespire all night. But the most bizarre thing - at the same time I felt very chilly. It was as if I slept under some synthetic plastic comforter, not a 100% cotton down one. Very dissapointed that not a single person mentioned any of this in the reviews. I read all of them before I ordered and chose this particular one because not a single person mentioned the crinkling sound.

Seem a little thin but just got it out of the bag. I will throw this is. The dryer with my linen balls to see if I can get it to fluff out. I love that it comes with a storage bag. I will update my post with more pictures on I put it in the dryer.

edit : after using this for a couple months I can only add that this is like sleeping under an angel's wing! soft cool warm light comfy. Buying another- simply amazing! Here's why The Eastwarmth queen lightweight down comforter excels in every aspect for me: 1- 500 TC 100% cotton cover - soft but substantial in the manner of European comforters 2-750 fill 90% Goose Down not fiber 10% Goose Feathers- go fish for a better combo 3- 1.25 lbs = truly lightweight 4- Has loft , airy but cozy like lying under a fluffy cloud 5- Comes lightly folded in an elegant fabric zippered storage bag, like high end down comforters- NOT vacuum sealed and crushed before you even get it open. (Very suitable for gift giving) 6- Elegant Satin logo corner tag , comes along with a nicely printed instruction card. 7- machine washable !!!! Has 8 loops for a duvet. No goosey feather smell. Clean, Perfect! 8- no discernable dark feathers when held to the light 9- an affordable price point at $129?! plus a $22 coupon discount- what?!!omg 10- laying under it is my private heaven indeed! Fluffed it by shaking it out and fluffing it up letting it breathe. It obliged nicely. This is a light weight style so it will not be as thick when fluffed as a heavier weight all season or winter weight. Look closely at the stock pictures to get an idea of the thickness of the light weight comforter ;they are accurate. I had just returned a really beautiful bamboo/bamboo filled duvet I thought would be perfect (I love bamboo sheets and duvets)but it was way too heavy for me at 6.24 lbs. I specifically wanted something lighter weight for summer than my all season down 2.6 lb down comforter 42 oz fill( 100% cotton cover, mostly down, no dark feathers.) I live in upstate NY- cold winters I like my temp at 65 and sleep hot. At 2.6 lbs I still too feel warm during hot summer nights. So this one at 1.25 lbs/ 20 oz fill I believe will be perfect for the summer. I love sleeping under cozy down; It's my non-negotiable. My search was extensive. Believe me this is the one for me! If you want heavier I would go with the all season. There are many comforters on Amazon so take a look; I don't think you will top this one. I will be back to Eastwarmth for my new all season queen comforter. I could not be happier!
