Very disappointed in this product. Description read as solid wood and veneer, but what i recieved was particle board. The slots for the bottom did not align correctly, so, instead of just a screwdriver, i also needed a dremel tool and a mallet. It is the correct color and it has all the hardware. I paid over $60 for this junk and had to wait an extra 2 days, even with prime. I do not expect to get $10 a month from this product before it falls apart. My son was ecstatic, he loves that he has his own box to store his toys (he shares a room with his brother). I love that it's sturdy enough that they can sit or stand on it. It was easy to put together, instructions not really necessary, which is good, because the instructions were not very instructive. The only part I needed help with was having the lid held in place while I screwed it in. As some other people have mentioned, it does smell weird, but it's not nearly as overpowering as some reviews make it sound. I was disappointed that about half of the compressed wood pieces were scuffed, but it was mostly on the inside (not visible), so I let it be. More frustrating to me is that, though they included one extra screw, three of the screw heads were not properly formed and could not be screwed in without stripping them, so I had to judiciously decide where it could handle having one less screw than prescribed. ... show more

Within a month of minimal use the hinges from the hydraulics pulled completely off the back plywood causing it to slam shut. It’s not safe as the top is heavy and will cause an injury if a child has their hand in the way.

I'm so glad I trusted my gut in buying this! I didn't notice any smell like the other reviews mention, it was easy to assemble and has plenty of space for my son's toys. The only minor issue worth noting is when you lift the lid, it doesn't stay open. It closes by itself pretty hard. But it doesn't really take away from the item as a whole. ... show more

This is a beautiful toy box and very easy to assemble. Unfortunately it smells so much like chemicals that I have not been able to put it in my grandson's nursery. This piece was easy to assemble and looks very nice, but I was sad to see that one of the side panels was already damaged before shipment. The box arrived in perfect condition and it was packaged well, so the panel was damaged beforehand. It wasn't bad enough for me to want to deal with repackaging it and shipping it back so I went ahead and kept it. It isn't too bad so I just colored it in with a brown marker. It seems pretty sturdy (I have been standing on it to hang my curtains and I am 180 pounds). I like that I have to push the lid down to close it so I won't have to worry about it slamming on little fingers. ... show more

I really want to give this more stars but I cannot even complete the assembly. The holes drilled into one of the hinges are completely wrong. Now I have to try to find a matching hinge at the hardware store. The whole point of ordering online is so I don’t have to go out. This toy box was relatively easy to put together however the screw holes to connect the lid to the hinges we’re both lined up correctly. I was able to somewhat fix the problem enough for me to not have to drill new holes. Over all though the toy box is very sturdy and worth the money.
