Amazon invited me to review this. To be honest, I still think it's quite heavy for a kayak. That means that it will not handle particularly gracefully, nor will it move very quickly. The seam down the middle doesn't help in this regard either. Still, these hard shell sit upon kayaks are in general the most common today. The fact that the flotation chambers are completely sealed molded HDPE (high density polyethylene) means they won't leak without a major puncture. The flat bottom with a shallow skeg (protrusion running stem to stern (front to back) makes paddling straight easier (and turning a lot slower.) The simple design means less parts to break. The folding seat back provides some leverage for paddling with little additional thickness for storage. The molded sequence of foot braces means a poor brace but no adjustment. There is no rudder. I think you see the theme here. This is not an elegant little boat, it's a clunker for beginners to get more people onto the water. (Onto, not into, it's a sit upon.) In that regard, making it split into two pieces (both still somewhat heavy and unwieldy at about 4.75'/1.5m and 24lbs/11kg) makes it easier to carry, easier to stow, and still easy to assemble. If your alternative were an inflatable kayak, which moves even more poorly and is hardly a kayak at all, this would be a big upgrade. And honestly, I only have an inflatable at the moment, in addition to this new baby. So it will get used. People have mentioned that you can stow it in the back of an SUV or minivan, but did you realize you can also put it on the over the cab bunk in a class C RV? And still have an inflatable in the storage compartment? So I'm going to swallow my paddling elitism, once again, give this five stars, and take it out on the water. At the end of the day, it's better to be out on the water paddling anything than looking at fancy boats online and in videos. BTW, it weighs just under 50 lbs/22 kg, and is called a 94 given that it's 9'4"/2.85m long once assembled. Also, note that there are grips at the balance point for each half, so if you can hold 24lb/11kg under each arm you can actually carry it disassembled all at once.

I've been looking for a modular kayak for quite a while, and this one absolutely nailed it. The two piece design is fantastic, each half is light enough to comfortably carry one in each hand, making transport much easier than wrestling with a full size kayak or dealing with roof racks. Assembly is simple, it really is just a few quick steps with the slide-lock system they have, and taking it apart is just as easy. The overall construction feels very durable, and while the design is fairly no frills, I actually like that. Things like the deck bungees are simple and easy to replace if they ever wear out, which should help with long-term use. On the water, it's a decent balance between stability and speed. I'm around 220 lbs, which is close to the recommended weight limit, and it's handled me well, primarily for calmer lakes and rivers. Being a sit on top kayak, it does ride fairly low, so the scupper plug design is something to be aware of depending on the conditions, but that wasn't a deal breaker for me. Just know you might get a little splash up, but no leaks or issues so far with the unit. The adjustable seat is surprisingly comfortable for longer rides, and it comes with a decent enough paddle. The built in fishing rod holders are a fantastic addition that I really appreciate as well. I do have to fold my rear seats down to fit the two sections in my vehicle, but that's still far easier than dealing with a roof rack every trip. All in all, this is easily the best modular kayak I've come across. It's practical, easy to store, quick to assemble, and has made getting out on the water far more convenient. Absolutely recommended!

This is a unique kayak design, manufactured by Lifetime who makes a lot of vinyl sheds. Made in two sections that latch together making it easier to transport and carry. Each section has a handle in the middle so that you can tuck it under an arm to haul it where it needs to go. The sections are connected using a tongue and grove joint on the bottom and two latches on each side on top. I found the latching system to be secure and kept the kayak together even when paddling through boat wakes. I am satisfied that the mechanism will hold fast under normal paddling conditions. The kayak does not have any internal storage but does have on top fore and aft bungie holds for dry and wet bags. It has two built in fishing rod holders. There is no seat so I recommend a kayak cushion, which is what I used and worked well enough. A two section paddle is included, made by Lifetime as well and while I would not buy this paddle separately it worked well enough with the kayak. The kayak itself paddles easily enough and tracks as expected in the wind. 30 inches wide, 9'4" in length, I found it to be stable and maneuverable.

I have owned plenty of inflatable paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes, and I have always wanted a hard plastic kayak for the ease of setup and the durability. The thing that held me back was transport, because a full size hard shell is tough to move without the right vehicle. This modular Lockport solves exactly that problem, and I am genuinely impressed. The two piece, snap together design is the whole appeal. It comes together quickly when you are ready to paddle and snaps apart just as easily when it is time to travel or store it. Both halves have good handle grips, so you can carry each piece underarm without wrestling it, which makes loading and unloading a one person job. On the water it feels secure and stable, with none of the flex or worry you get from a cheaper boat. And the transport win is real. If you have a minivan or an SUV, you can pop the pieces in the back and go, with no roof rack and nothing to strap down. For anyone who has fought with tie downs on a windy highway, that alone is worth it. My one wish is that they made it in a three piece design. The two piece fits an SUV or minivan well, but a three piece would break down small enough for an even smaller vehicle, which would open it up to more people. Overall I definitely recommend this sit on top kayak. The design is clever, the durability is there, and the easy transport changes how often you will actually use it. I will probably buy more.

The kayak is of excellent quality and design. The two piece concept is genius, and goes together smoothly. I did not need any tools and am able to slide it together with bare hands. Just line up the arrows on the two hulls and work it together while you are on a flat surface. It takes a little effort, but compared to the “origami” folding kayaks that I have tried, it goes together much faster and easier. The two pieces fit into the back of my SUV perfectly. Each of the pieces is exactly 57 inches long, so they both fit into my Ford Escape easily. They are light enough to be handled by one person, although the carry handle, the black piece in the center of the boat that you can see in the pictures, isn’t really that comfortable to use - but it works. The seat is good, but unpadded. There is a molded in skeg, so the boat tracks very well in the water, although I have only used it on mornings with little to no wind. The molded in footrests help with the paddling. Overall, this kayak is well thought out and performs well. It costs less than comparably sized folding kayaks. I did call the customer service with a question. It was very easy to get through to the correct person, and they got back to me via email right away.

I just received the kayak and spent some time unboxing it, assembling it, and checking out the components. Since I haven't had a chance to take it out on the water yet, this is just my initial impression of the build and design, and I plan to update this review once I get it out for a proper test paddle. The two-piece modular design is definitely the standout feature here. Out of the box, the sections feel solid, and the SlideLock system seems straightforward enough to manipulate, and strong once secured in place. I feel like this setup is going to make transport and storage a lot easier than dealing with a traditional single-piece hull, especially if space is limited. The molded plastic feels durable, and the included paddle feels decent for a stock option. It comes equipped with rod holders and an adjustable seat, which is basic, but seems adequate enough once I sat in it. The locking mechanism connects the two halves tightly, and seems stable on the ground. But I am curious to see how much flex or water seepage there might be once it handles real currents on the water. I also like that it has seepage holes in strategic places to shed water if it rained or if water was onboarded without compromising its floatage. Everything arrived intact with all the necessary hardware. For now, it looks like a well-thought-out design for convenience, and I will see how it actually performs on the lake soon.

This is the first time I've ever seen a modular kayak like this, and I was excited to give it a try. I'm currently camping along Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa, so it was the perfect opportunity to put it through some real-world conditions. The wind and waves were a little rough at times, but this kayak handled them surprisingly well. It tracked nicely, felt stable, and gave me plenty of confidence on the water. One of the biggest selling points for me was how easy it was to assemble and take apart by myself. The SlideLock system is simple, secure, and makes connecting the two sections quick and hassle-free. When I was done paddling, the two halves nested together and fit inside my Honda Odyssey even with the second-row seats still in place. That kind of portability is a game changer compared to hauling around a full-size kayak. The included paddle, comfortable adjustable seat, multiple footrest positions, and thoughtful features like the paddle keeper, water bottle holder, and fishing rod holders make it feel like a full-featured kayak instead of a compromise for portability. Overall, I'm extremely impressed. It performs like a traditional hard-shell kayak while offering the convenience of compact storage and transport. I absolutely love this thing and can't wait to take it on many more adventures.
