I have a 7 year old who's spent time in my tandem kayak, but she's ready to try it out for herself and unfortunately even my 10ft is too large for her. I picked this up because it's small and light enough for her to learn the ropes before she grows into something larger (and I have 2 smaller kids who will eventually use this as well). The size is perfect for her, and while the weight is a bit much out of water, it's fine on the water. It doesn't need a seat for short trips, but you'll want to add a seat for longer days on the water. I got this for my six-year-old son, hoping he could enjoy some time outdoors with me while I paddleboard next to him. The kayak is well-built and made from a strong, hard plastic material. It is a good size, roughly 5ft, 6 inches long, and holds up to 100 lbs. It includes a paddle; it works very effectively and feels well-made. I have no complaints; this kayak has been an excellent activity my son can enjoy. It glides smoothly on the water, doesn’t tip easily, and feels stable and secure. My husband snapped this up, thinking both of our kids could use it. My daughter just turned 12, and our son is 9. I don't think that's going to go according to plan. This is a well-made kayak, and the accompanying paddle is scaled well for the kayak. I suppose I'm more used to a slightly different shape in a kayak - more narrow. But as I doubt a kid would be in any kind of treacherous environment, I'm sure it's fine. There are a series of staged footrests, so that it can work for different ages. That said, this really is scaled for younger kids. The quality of the kayak will not be tested too much, as I think any kid would outgrow this long before it starts to show wear and tear. This kayak is perfect for a young child (or petite adult like me!) My 3.5 year old son was so excited when he saw this. I ordered a comfy seat attachment that easily hooked up and made this seat comfy to sit on- it’s not required however it’s hard plastic so would likely hurt the booty after a short period of time. This comes with a paddle that is also perfect child/ Small adult size. The product has some weight to it. This will get some good use next summer at the River and will grow with my child for awhile. No complaints here. Lifetime makes some good products and this kids kayak is no different. We picked this one up after seeing how much the neighbor loved his yellow kids lifetime kayak. Luckily we landed my sons fave color.

The media could not be loaded. Weight limit says 100lb but that seems too much a load for this kayak. It’s very very light and very very short. It’s only like, 70inches. All the youth kayaks we’ve used in the past are about 12” longer. There is no seat! Did I miss something? It was delivered with the wrapping all torn but still included a paddle.
