I have two coolers just like this (two different sizes same brand) - they are amazingly effective and keep things cold for *literally* two + days staying safely frozen when traveling across the country. Two days, 12 hours in the sun in the trunk of a car (we put a blanket over it to deflect some of the sun) and then took the stuff out and put it directly into the freezer - including the popsicles that were still frozen. We use the big flat ice packs on the bottom and the top to keep everything in between cold. We do not have a truck so we do not need to but it has the metal clasps on the corners to be able to strap it down and keep it secure most especially if you're traveling with an open truck. (The clasps on the corner can also open pop off bottle caps haha). Apparently, this is Grizzly Bear tested - I am happy to report that I have not been in any situation where a grizzly was trying to get into my cooler. More of a beachgoer. haha. The little recess on the inside of the cooler helps it drain consistently. I don't think any of my other coolers have that little dip in front of the drain plug. I like the front clips that hold the lid closed - another cooler by another brand has front closure that is like the rope on the sides and I don't really love it per se - I like these better because they are like a lever and lock thing versus rope that goes into a groove. Compared to that brand - this an exceptional value. If you are partial to that brand, I get it, but if you're not going to use a cooler very often - this makes more sense on your wallet.     • Excellent performance, possibly one weak link
I got this to have a cooler that would keep things cold a long time for camping and outdoor events. This is quite heavy and feels well made. The performance is unquestionably great. It keeps ice a long time. It looks similar to other ice chests, so nothing particularly interesting from a looks standpoint. The lid seals well and doesn't leak. Overall it is a good value. My only issue is that the handles are rope and seem like a key weakpoint. If they ever break it will be hard to transport this. ... show more

    • Premium ice retention and durability for half the price
I’ve been eyeing the high-end, trendy cooler brands for a while, but I could never quite justify the massive price tag. After some research, I was happy to find this Lifetime 65 Quart Hard Cooler, and it has honestly been a total no-brainer. It provides the same level of performance you’d expect from a premium "name brand" at about half the cost. The ice retention is incredible; it’s rated for up to eight days, and in my experience, it holds ice for a very long time even in the heat of a summer camping trip. The build quality is exceptionally rugged. It’s made of heavy-duty polyethylene, has a tightly-sealing lid, and is even IGBC certified as bear-resistant, which gives me a lot of confidence when we’re out in remote areas. The rope handles with the injection-molded grips make it much easier to carry with two people, and the built-in bottle openers and garden hose-compatible drain spout are thoughtful touches that make life at the campsite a lot easier. While I’m giving this five stars because of the sheer value and performance, there are a couple of small things that would make it even better. I would love an option to add wheels, as it gets quite heavy when fully loaded. They do have a different model with wheels, but it’d be nice to have a removable option. Also it would be great if the interior had slots for a cutting board divider or hanging baskets. However, when you consider that you're getting a top-tier, high-performance ice chest that works just as well as the expensive alternatives for a fraction of the price, those are very minor trade-offs.     • Best cooler I’ve ever owned — built like a tank and ice lasts FOREVER
I’ve gone through a lot of coolers over the years — cheap Coleman ones that cracked after one season, mid-tier ones that barely kept ice 48 hours — so I was skeptical when I pulled the trigger on the Lifetime 65 qt. All I can say is WOW… this thing is on another level. First impression out of the box: it’s a beast. Heavy, solid, no flex anywhere. The walls and lid are super thick, the oversized rubber latches snap shut with authority, and the rope handles with molded grips actually make it possible for two people to carry it when it’s fully loaded (which is a lot — this thing swallows 80+ cans with room for ice). We took it on a 4-day camping trip in late November (night temps in the 30s, daytime high 50s). Pre-chilled the cooler overnight, layered two 20-lb bags of ice with drinks and food on top. After four full days we still had 30–40% of the ice left — everything stayed ice-cold the entire time. I’ve never had a cooler perform like that. Other things I love: Certified bear-resistant (IGBC) and you can lock the corners with padlocks Rubber feet keep it from sliding around in the truck bed Capped drain plug that screws in (no more losing the little rubber stopper) Built-in bottle openers on both corners Lifetime actually replaces broken parts for free (they sent a friend new latches on a 7-year-old cooler no questions asked) Yes, it’s big and heavy — if you have a small car or want to carry it solo all the time, look at the 55 qt instead. But if you camp, tailgate, fish, or host big backyard parties and you’re tired of throwing away melted ice and warm beer after day two, just get this. It’s half the price of a comparable Yeti and, from everything I’ve seen so far, performs every bit as well (or better). American-made, built to last a lifetime (pun intended), and worth every single penny. Couldn’t be happier. ... show more
