  • The perfect phone for a non-power user who wants a great camera
My biggest pet peeve with phones has been the camera. The one in the LG G4 is one of the best. It works great (for a camera phone) in low light and has more manual controls than any phone I've ever used before. Plus, it's really easy to use and has a fast shutter. People are up and down about the LG's battery but I was adamant about having a replaceable battery. For me, I'm browsing and listening to music and podcasts constantly. That said, after three months of use, I have yet to use my spare battery (it's still in its bag). Most of the time, the phone is very frugal with electricity. But if you watch a lot of videos or play games, the phone will get hot and eat up battery life. Thankfully, it charges - with a fast charger - quickly. Shooting videos kind of sucks - the frame rate stutters and the audio is abysmal. But the display is beautiful (though not as vibrant as a Samsung) and the single speaker is loud. And still the phone is slim and light enough to fit comfortably in my pocket (next to my stinky wallet). All in all, it's easily the best phone I've ever owned, but I'd probably have been equally happy with the Samsung Galaxy S6. More so if I played games. ... show more

  • Faulty Device
Receiving the phone today, I opened the box and noticed that the setup looked unusual. Right off the bat, I realized that it wasn't what I wanted (metallic gray) but a black leather version. I looked further and realized that it wasn't even the real leather back. As I continued to sift through the box, I noticed that many of the items were in the original packing but worn. Everything from the at&t screen protector to the headphones were covered in scratches. I exaimed the phone and also noticed that the camera had a horizontal, hairline scratch stsrting from one end and ending at the other. The phone's operating system was good. But the condition of the phone was refurbished at best. I even found a iPhone sim card key in the box. Disappointing. I will be returning the phone immediately. ... show more

  • Great condition for a used phone, but was there a problem.
The phone is in excellent condition for being used. Everything works well and the phone is functioning as it should. So no bootloop probkem, at least not as yet. The version I got was the H815 model which comes unlocked right out the box. But the problem I'm having is the phone seems to suffer slightly from image retention and it bugs me so much. Its not bad though, and it does go away after a time. ... show more

  • I do not reccommend!
This phone is aweful. It deletes my pictures randomly as it chooses right after I take them. It doesn't get as dim or as bright as I need it to. The battery life is horrible. I even tried a brand new battery in it. The charge time is impossible. I have to put it on airplane mode just for it to charge in a sensible amount of time. It randomly takes pictures on it's own if I leave the camera open. It doesn't respond half of the time when I acknowledge an alarm that I set. It's extremely picky about charging cables. Like 90% of my chargers don't work with it. I know I'm forgetting half of the issues I've had with it. I love the phone itself, but it doesn't work worth a crap. I have to go outside my house to talk on it because of the connection, but that's probably AT&T. The internet is slow & loses connection intermitantly even when I'm in the same room as our Modem & it's working fine on the computer. ... show more

  • A real review - I paid for mine! (bought USED - Very Good condition rating)
I purchased a USED (listed as Very Good condition) LG G4 from ECELLULAR that was fulfilled by Amazon. The phone was in great shape - no damage at all to the screen or camera lens. The back of the case did have some wear to it (worn where you can tell it had been dragged off table tops and things frequently), but nothing so ugly it stood out - besides, who doesn't just shove their phones into protective cases anyways these days? If you don't, sorry but you aren't that bright! I posted image of the back of the phone to show the slight wear. I did not take pics of the rest of the phone because the rest was like new. But there was no real damage, like drop damage or anything (that the eye can see). The phone SEEMS to be in great shape for being used. So far no issues with it that is preventing me from using it, but I took away two stars for two reasons.... First issue: I am shocked that I couldn't get a full days worth of use on this phone today (and I barely used it because I was busy doing other things all day). I used to have a Microsoft Lumia 640 XL and it lasted me around 1.5 - 2 days with CONSTANT use. They both were 3000 mAh - yet today I only got 1/2 day out of the battery just because the phone was on. Now later I noticed the NFC was on - so I do not know if that drains the battery or not? I turned it off and if it extends my battery then I will come back and update this review. In addition to the battery sucking dry fast, the time to charge it takes forever... Folks were saying theirs charges in an hour or so - they are on crack. This battery is big so it takes a few hours to charge, even on a good charger. I was used to this as my Microsoft phone took a long time to charge too, so this part isnt a deal breaker for me - just sucks if I am out and about and have to use my travel 10000 mAh battery charger - it is convenient to charge all night - it is not convenient to be without a phone due to a long charge time when out and about. Second issue: The battery has twice got super warm on me (Ive only had the phone 24 hours). The first time was right after I got the phone... I thought that it was an issue with being dormant for awhile - and before too long the phone seemed to cool down on it's own. Then today I was outside working on the pool and I had the phone in the shade but then sat in the sun for a few minutes and the phone got really hot when I was using it out in the open sun. I only was on it literally a few minutes, so that kinda worries me that it couldn't handle being in the sun long - I mean we all go outside and use our phones in the daylight.... If the issue stops and it was a fluke I will update this review. Because both of these issues had to do with heat/battery: I do have concern that this phone HAS been dropped hard enough to cause some internal damage that is short circuiting things inside causing battery and heating issues - just because the phone doesn't show physical signs of damage doesn't mean there wasn't something delicate tossed around inside. I am keeping my eye on it in the meantime and will contact Amazon if it seems problematic after testing out the phone over the next couple of weeks. I just need this phone to last as I have had horrible luck with AT&T and this is now my THIRD phone (the other two were brand new) since just the end of September (yup three phones in 4.2 months). Aside from the battery/heat issue overall I do like the phone. If it were brand new I would recommend the phone for sure - it is way better than the Microsoft Lumia XL (the Microsoft version of the 5.5 screen). I am also a big fan of LG phones. They really do have a way with their phone set up that is very user friendly (like having your numbers above your keyboard at all times so you dont have to press and hold to make a 2. Or that their keyboard comes standard with a mic for talk texting, etc.... The little things that really simplify cell use and speed things up for the real world. By the way if you didn't know, this phone will take pictures by pressing just one volume key, too! So it has three ways to take pics (via the camera button on the screen, the volume button, or voice command - although I have not tried setting up voice command - haven't had time to play with this thing much.... The camera seems to have a lag to focus which I find an irritating aspect - because if I am not mistaken, I thought LG was bragging this phone took fast pics? (but I was looking at so many phones at the same time maybe I am wrong - but double check the stats above to see if that is what they are claiming - because if they are - it is not as great as they make it seem). However, this thing has the best selfie cam I have ever experienced in my life! I am not cute enough to be having this nice of selfies lol ;) The standard camera at 16mp is pretty awesome, too, as you can imagine. For someone like me who loves to do photography and I also turn photography into artwork, this is a big deal to have a nice camera. I still have yet to play around with the camera though - as I said I have only had this thing a day. The screen is clear and gets pretty bright - plus for when you are out in the bright daylight (unless this heating thing is a real issue) I have somewhat small hands (can't play the guitar and boy did that piss off my dad when I was a little girl) - and this phone is actually easy for me to hold. Right now I have a thing low profile case on it, because I was scared I wouldnt be able to hold it with something bulky like an otterbox, but I plan to actually go bulkier in casing to add more drop protection (because I have muscle problems where I lose control and will drop things... I'm surprised my mother will still let me wash her dishes. I guess even a broken dish means she doesn't have to wash it.... But I digress... I will be adding more protection because I drop things. Someone was bragging about the speakers on this thing - either they are on crack or my speakers are not great because they are a little blown from previous owner. It is not that my speakers sound bad but if I turn up the volume they begin to quickly distort at even just above half way. I have yet to try them with the earbuds, but usually earbuds increase performance and quality instantly so I doubt I will be disappointed there. I guess that is about all I can comment on now. I do like that I have my sd card in this thing - too many phones today are taking that feature away because they want to force you to upgrade and buy a newer phone with more and more memory as they come out... scammers. ugh. Le sigh. So this is a feature I hope LG sticks with because it WILL keep customers. Overall this phone might actually deserve 4 or 5 stars but I can only base it on my experience with the used one I got... being battery and heat issues I do not know if this is the phone or MY phone. ... show more
