Top Amazon Reviews

  • Game changing experience
The media could not be loaded. Background: Initially, I spent days watching videos, reading reviews, and browsing Reddit to decide between the LG Ultragear 45" OLED and the Samsung Odyssey 49" ultra-wide OLED. I leaned towards the Samsung due to many reviews mentioning poor text quality with the LG and almost changed my mind about getting an OLED monitor because of burn-in concerns with both models. Since I don't game as much anymore, my new monitor needed to balance productivity, watching shows, and gaming. Although I loved the Samsung, the screen seemed too wide for competitive FPS games, while the LG seemed ideal for FPS but not as good for strategy games. I was eventually convinced to choose the LG due to its extra height compared to the Samsung's width, deciding to return it if the text quality was a deal breaker. Design: This monitor is significantly larger than I expected, even coming from a 34" ultra-wide. My 55" FLEXISPOT desk is a bit cramped, as the stand pokes into my large mousepad mat, which I plan to fix with a mount or arm. Note that this version lacks built-in speakers and only has an audio jack for desktop audio settings. Despite sitting next to a window, I've experienced no glare issues while using it for gaming, entertainment, or productivity. Gaming Performance: I use this monitor with a Legion Pro i5, 4070 GPU, 32GB RAM, and an i9 CPU, and I experience no FPS issues. The immersive feeling is akin to playing with a VR headset, which might be a downside for those prone to motion sickness. FPS games like Warzone, Destiny 2, and Overwatch 2 are amazing on this monitor, significantly enhancing my gaming experience. Although the curve isn't ideal for strategy games, it's not an issue for some, like Civilization, but it might take some getting used to for others, such as League of Legends. Productivity/Entertainment: This monitor has been excellent for productivity and entertainment. I’ve encountered no issues with pixelated text, and it has greatly boosted my productivity for work and casual browsing. Initially, I planned to use it alongside my laptop monitor, but it has been sufficient on its own. The video quality exceeded expectations, not quite OLED TV level, but a noticeable improvement over my IPS monitor. It has a remote!: Quite convenient, I've always hated adjusting monitors setting on the monitor itself. Which I change quite frequently using this monitor. For color issues, cycling through mode profiles helps. I use FPS mode for FPS games, Game 1 or 2 for strategy games, and Vivid for movies and productivity, with reduced brightness. Conclusions: I've had it for 1 month and so far, I have no regrets. Long-term burn-in remains a concern, especially given the monitor's price ($999 on sale). While I wish I could have tested both monitors for a better comparison, I’m loving the additional height of the LG without having to turn my head left and right as I would with the Samsung Odyssey. Burn-in is still a concern, but no point stressing about it. I’m taking recommended precautions like using a true black wallpaper, auto-hiding the task menu, avoiding desktop icons, and setting the monitor to sleep during inactivity I hope this review helps others who are indecisive about purchasing, especially if they have similar concerns to mine. • Worth every penny. Seriously.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: I came from a 32 ln LCD monitor that was 1440p. I was a bit nervous with some of the reviews regarding pixel density. However, after a couple of days I can say this is SIGNIFICANTLY over blown. I usually have like 2-4 windows open at the time and I can not tell the difference. GAMING: This is the real reason I bought this monitor. The jump from 165 to 240 is noticeable but only barely. However the fact that this monitor is 1440P means you don't lose performance comparatively to upgrading to a 4K monitor. Man, this monitor's curve is breath taking and you truly inmerse yourself because of the way the screen hugs your eye corners. Pictures don't do justice to this monitor, it's gorgeous, the color are vibrant and the contrast is phenomenal. PERFORMANCE: Burn in is a problem when people talk about OLEDs, but this baby comes with several easy to use tools to avoid any burn in. Also, technology is advanced enough that you can enable the screen saver option to exponentially prolong the life span of your monitor. However, if you are looking for not a monitor, but an experience I suggest buying it. I can push around 160-240+ FPS with my 4080 and let me tell you this is the way you want to do it. PRODUCTIVITY: It does what you can do with any other monitor, except better. NICHE FEATURES: It includes a bunch of dot sights that are mostly used when playing first person shooter games but I must say, after using them they actually help quite a bit to find the center of the screen and they are not invasive at all. They can pop in and pop out with the ease of a click from the included remote control. 5/5 I can recommend. ... show more
