I've been living with an old-school bevel gauge for decades, and I'm not sad that I've just got this new digital one. My home is old, and there seems to be no corner which isn't out of plum, level and square by a couple of degrees. Every cut I make has to be some crazy compound mitre. This gauge does an admirable job of both copying angles (as a bevel gauge does) and giving one an actual reading of the angle, thereby saving one the need to decant the reading with a protractor. Apart from being more convenient, it's also more accurate and precise. I got this specific model because I had previously had good experience with a torque wrench from the same outfit ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/840025215764 ). That one came with a solid case, and that allowed me to expect that the carry case for this angle finder would be similarly strong, and I was right. Taking care of calibrated instruments is important in my book. So, it was a little more expensive than some being sold, but in my opinion this one is good value, and I don't regret paying a little more. I bought this because I wanted to replace a section of my attic ladder and needed the angle to be just right. This worked out great for that. But since then I have used it on multiple project. It is such a handy tool and takes a lot of the guess work out of matching my miter saw angle or just marking wood for hand cutting/ circular saw cutting. Def a tool that I didn’t know I needed. But now that I have it. I can work more precisely. If this thing breaks or I lose it. I will def invest in another. Seems like a solid tool.
