A thriller to be sure. Acting was excellent as well as story line. Although we enjoyed it, I am not a fan of Stories that are not completed in the video. It’s like a soap opera.

D.S. Nancy Devlin has secrets. She even has secrets that she doesn't yet know about. A proud member of the London National Crime Division, Devlin has just been decorated for bravery in the line of duty. Just afterwards, she drives down to Brighton, her home town. The first secret we find out is that her boss doesn't know about this meeting. It's with Frank Le Saux, who owns a trucking company and has gotten himself into more trouble than usual: "It's bad, Nancy. It's really bad." And then someone shoots him from the woods beyond. Nancy panics and tries to hold him up, but he tells her, "Run!". And she runs. Hiding that she was there when Frank was shot is her 2nd secret, and just the start of her troubles. And just the start of her secrets. I enjoyed "The LEVƎL” as a mystery. There are twists and there are surprises. What there is none of is cheer or comedy relief. It does not have a thriller pace, but I still found it engrossing. I did sometimes wonder how Devlin got to be decorated by her department when she appears to have big gaps in her police training, but if the show is not quite realistic it is good drama. "The LEVƎL” originally aired Sept-Nov. 2016. Its six episodes total 288 minutes. If you buy it on BluRay or DVD, it is presented in 16:9 aspect and 5.1 Dolby Digital. English SDH subtitles are available on the episodes as well as the Bonus Features. The ending makes it look like there will be a Series 2, but that's not for sure yet. They did not use any CGI or models. ....B. "From Page to Screen" (8 minutes) ....C. "Where Truth meets Fiction" (3 minutes) How about if you are "Shooting a murder mystery when real life overtakes fiction." A real body messes up the shooting schedule. ....D. "How They Do Like to be Beside the Seaside" (4 minutes) MacFadyen talks about Brighton, "When the sun goes away, it turns into this sort of eerie eerie place... quite fitting." ....E. "What's Location Catering Like?" (4 minutes) ....F. "Why are Murders and Cop Dramas So Popular?" (5 minutes) Chiappe has an interesting take on this, "I had a really weird experience a few years ago when my son found a body on the way to school. Somebody had been killed. And I didn't think I ever understood until that moment the drive to understand what happened, because I just thought, 'You have to know, don't you?' You have to know – what's the story that led to this happening? And it was the first time I think I really got why crime grips people – real crime and fictional crime."     • The best so far!
I’m spending a lot buying DVDs that I would have ordered from the defunct Netflix DVD service. I don’t do streaming. So I’m trying to buy ones that I’ll want to rewatch in the future. Level is one of the best out of others that r excellent. Unfortunately I’ve just realized I’m watching Episode 4 of only 6 episodes and there’s no Season 2! So sad, but highly recommend anyway. ... show more

    • Cliffhangers galore...great for a series 2!
This is a great show and the ending was masterful, in that there are several cliffhangers, not just the usual only one. I certainly hope there is a series 2!

    • Good mystery series that should have continued for another seriew to tie up the loose ends
An engrossing show that unfortunately leaves you hanging at the finish as I read that there will be no series 2 to wrap up all the remaining loose ends. The story was good and left you wondering what secret will come out next. Some of the storylines could have been expanded (I would especially have liked more of the various backstories) and it would have been nice if they all were resolved. If there had been a second series I would have ordered it. ... show more
