This product is really cool. I am not an pro drywaller (I don't do it for a living day in and out) but I get the occasional drywall job. This popped up on my youtube feed and I saw a lot of people really like it so I thought I would try it out myself. So my take is this: This stuff is NOT a gimmick. Whatever it is does change the mud. I used it in a bucket of plus three and added ONE water bottle (I could have used a little less water for my liking. This stuff changes the compostion of the mud. It makes the mud ELASTIC. That is the word. It makes it stickier. It also makes it act a little like if you could imagine runy kinetic sand. It also changes the smell of the mud a little. Because it creates elasticity in the mud it it makes it smoother. Because the mud is stickier and more elastic the amount of mud you can fling on a wall and it not run or sag or fall off the wall is frankly amazing! It does not make the mud dry faster but I don't think they ever advertised that. But because of that "kinetic sand" feel it does make it easier to layer over on wetter patches. One more thing. It does adheare very well even to gloss paint and and dries nice and hard. Would a pro need this? No I don't think they would. Would they appreciate what it does? Absolutley. There is a marked difference to mud that has this product in and mud that doesnt. Finally, I could see one "problem" with this product. I could see it creating a handicap in that you WILL learn bad habits and techniques because it's so forgiving. To me as a pro that doesn't do a lot of drywall I will definetly always use this. It's worth it! Mudding is an art and a skill. This product makes my jobs just that much easier. One more thing! You will sand a lot less because your finishes are that smooth and you run into very few high spots. This product is a WIN!

Great product and time saver

First time user! Was initially unsure how this would work. Purchased a bag and added it to a 5 pal of mud. Have used it on a level 5 finish on a older ceiling with great results. Much easier to work the mud and the more you work it, the better the results. Very happy with the cut down on time between coats and the finish. The sanding was next to nothing, just a couple of small spots (my fault). If you are concerned about the price, do not worry, you will more than save it in time and sanding.

This stuff really works

I first saw this product demonstrated at the IBS (International Builders Show) in Las Vegas. The demo was impressive but I was skeptical. I finally had an opportunity to try it out. I had two 20 ft by 8 ft walls that were recently drywalled and I needed to get them taped and finished fast with minimal mess. Per instructions I added the entire bag to a 5 gallon bucket of all purpose mud and mixed for 5 minutes. The first thing I noticed was that the mud was smoother almost like frosting. I have read that some use dish soap to achieve this but I have learned the hard way that soap in mud can cause adhesion problems. As I was applying the mud I began to notice that I could keep applying mud as soon as the previous layer was firm. It does not make the mud dry faster but I allows you to apply additional coats without waiting for the previous coat to dry. So in addition to making the mud easier to apply, it allows you to apply wet mud to wet mud. Because of this I was able to tape and apply two finish coats and a skim coat to both walls in a single day. Also, because you can mist it with water and keep troweling, you don't need to sand. The job turned out awesome and was done it one day with zero dust. I definitely recommend this product but be sure and follow the directions and mix it well with your preferred drywall mud. Remember that it won't make the mud dry faster but you can add more layers as soon as it firms. In my case I was able to add another layer after about 30 minutes.

It works but it's pricey

It does work, seems to spread on smoother with less air pockets. It's enough for only 1 five gallon mix. The product itself is great. Just not happy with with the amount you get for the price. But it does work. Just expensive

As a DIYer, my first attempt at mudding was a disaster. Muddskip made my second attempt very good. It was easier to tape. It was also very easy to skim coat. Even though it says no sanding required, I had a little sanding to do because I left a few tool marks. otherwise a very smooth finish without need for sanding. I will still use a professional on big jobs. But for this little project, this product was worth every penny for a DIYer

Wow, this stuff is a huge time saver. Also appearance saver if you’re picky about finish and aren’t the best at drywall. You can have a major drywall product practically done in one day. Once you mix it in and get it on the wall you will immediately notice the difference as soon as you begin to spread it. Ive started using one bag of this and one premixed box of joint compound, mixed in a bucket, and then when the lid is on it actually is still usable over a week later.

Not worth it!!!!! I read the Amazon reviews and thought it was worth a try. I have done drywall work as a part time handyman for 35 years. I am not a drywaller, but I am not bad. Basically, all of the negative reviews on Amazon are correct. Here is what I found: 1) The one benefit I found was that it can do wet on wet. I was able to put wet mud on wet mud and it went on smoothly, which regular drywall can't do. 2) I found no other benefit. 3) Wetting it down in less than 24 hours does not reactivate any more than a bucket of premix reactivates. 4) I absolutely had to sand it heavily to get an acceptable finish. 5) You CANNOT smooth it out with a sponge instead of sanding - I really tried....a lot....I wanted it to work. 6) It was not any easier to work than regular mud, which was a big part of their marketing. The more I worked it the worse it got, just like regular mud. 7) It does not dry any faster. 8) The directions read as marketing materials rather than anything helpful. 9) It is much faster to do 3 coats of regular mud than trying to work with this stuff. 10) There is a reason why professionals don't use this stuff. If it did everything they said it would, they would use it.
