  • Excellent playing/sounding 1/2 V
I’m quite impressed with this guitar. I have many Leo Jaymz guitars, and they hit a home run with this particular model. Guitar played great out of the box- all I had to do was tune up the strings. Everything works well on the guitar and it looks really cool in my opinion. Very smooth and fast neck/fretboard with low action (string height) and with no string buzzing or dead notes. I decided to put on a black roller bridge, bone nut, and then re-wired with vintage wire and changed the capacitor- I did not need to do any of this. I’ve changed the pickups a few times so I decided to just re-wire on the last pickup swap. I kept the stock pickups which I put in another guitar- they sound great. I swapped the pickups only because I ordered the pickups when I ordered the guitar. Oripure alnico 5 neck hexbucker in the neck paired with a Dragonfire Quad Rail that I then coil-split and installed a concentric double decker pot to add a tone knob to the guitar. The guitar comes with 1 volume knob and that’s it. I absolutely love this guitar- one of the best playing/sounding guitars in my very large collection of budget guitars. The string- thru body is a great touch- really adds more sustain, better tuning stability, and sound transfer. This guitar would be good for someone starting out. All u really have to do is tune the strings. It really did play great right out of the box. Leo Jaymz makes quality, budget friendly guitars. I now have 15 of them. ... show more

  • Excellent Guitar for the money
UpdateI love this guitar..You can tell a Great guitar because it will sound Great even unplugged.I have not even plugged it in yet and I can still hear it has Great mids. The set up is perfect right of the box .Great Fretwork did the Phil McKnight test..no rips..Neck is fast..it is not a PRS..but for 185 dollars.. it's hundreds more.Tuning pegs are solid and it looks Cool..man it's a Good looking instrument.. It will get stage time..the pickup and electronics..I don't know..but if they are no good I will put WCRs in them or EVH....The body's acoustics are so Good that it can only get better Was really surprised...5 left as of this post you better get one if your looking. Because if the tafiff goes up oh boy ..and these will sell out(Update)I plugged it in OMG..The tone is ridiculous .I have "BigName"guitars that cost3x as much that do sound this good ... show more

  • My first Leo Jaymns, poor condition right out of box.
Color: White & Black V2
CONS.... I'm giving it a 4 after work I had to do, about 1½hrs. The 2 neck screws closest to the neck were stripped out with 3 extra washers under the black washer, the neck had a ⅜ inch gap between the body and neck, I had to remove the neck, remove the 2 shims that didn't need to be there, plug the stripped holes in the neck to have wood so I could tighten the neck and body tight to each other as it should have been.. After that the guitar played well, after a full setup it up pretty good, also the low E screw on the bridge pick up only had about one thread screwed into the pickup so it stuck up very high, the intonation was good except on the high e string, that was no big deal with the intonation, but if a new player would had reciceved this guitar it would had been sent back. I mean the strings had one rap and were all loose, pickups were barley screwed in so they were way too high, no way was this guitar playable out of the box. It wasn't a shipping accident, there wasn't even 1 dent or hole in the box. Almost forgot the volume potometer still needs to be replaced, it sticks bad at half volume. Fake D'Addario strings lol but first thing I always put good strings on a new guitar PROS..... surprisingly the tunners work well, the neck, headstock and body has a awesome finish, the 3way switch isn't bad, the pickups sound good, they are waxed so not microphonic , fret job is awesome, no high frets and the ball ends are perfect, the nut was cut good. Bridge pickup is 16.2 k, middle is 5.0 k and neck is 7.2 k, I would have like to see the neck pickup a little hotter for my taste, but it sounds pretty decent. In closing for me $179.00 was a good deal even with me having to fix the stripped neck holes, and a full on setup, but for a beginner it would have been returned or they would have paid more in repairs than the price of the guitar to have it made playable. I can honestly say out of 7 budget guitars I have purchased on Amazon this was in horrible condition out of the box. The other 6 were very good condition, all 6 pre setup with low action. ... show more

  • Punches WAY above its weightclass!
Color: White & Black V2
Excellent guitar right out of the box! This was my first Leo Jaymz purchase and it did not disappoint. I went ahead and made the purchase because I've never seen anyone make this particular body style in an affordable production model. Guitar feels solid, roughly 4.8lbs., and sounds incredible. Frets were very smooth as advertised, with no spout whatsoever. Only blemish I was able to find was a small bubble in the finish that's not noticeable. My particular one came with locking tuners (blew me away at the price point) which I don't know is the standard experience as no reviews I watched on this particular model stated that it came with them, and came out of the box after being shipped across 2 states to me, almost in tune. So far I have had absolutely no complaints with this instrument. ... show more
