  • Excellent Value! Sounds great, plays great, no issues!
Color: Black Flame 5W
The media could not be loaded. Excellent starter guitar kit! As far as cheap guitars go, this had very little of the issues that you usually see in cheap guitars. When I set it up I lowered the action very slightly, and moved only 2 saddles to get the intonations right on. The fret ends were pretty smooth so I didn't have to do any fret work on the ends, but I did end up leveling 1-2 frets (they weren't too far off though they just needed some love). The tuners are just fine if you string it right, it stays in tune. It was wired properly humbuckers cancel noise as they should, no grounding issues. The nut was cut fairly well maybe 1 notch could be slightly wider but overall what a great guitar! It's right on par with anything out there in the $200-$300 range. This is going to be a fantastic Christmas present for my nephew. This is my second Leo Jayms guitar, I also got a purple telecaster that was equally awesome! ... show more

  • Great for future guitar heros
Color: Red Flame 5W
For an affordable starter kit, this past my expectations. It is well made and actually fun to play. The strings are acceptable, but... The only thing I had to do was tune it and set the intonation. The amp is fair, then again this is a starter kit. Great for any future guitar hero.

  • Great Beginner Guitar (not bad at all)
Got this new guitar in over the weekend intending to give it to my Niece for her birthday (along with my old Mustang LT-25 amp). Guitar is beautiful (purple flame maple veneer is lovely) and came in with virtually no Mfg. flaws. Poplar Guitar body is VERY light weight, and the guitar has the "thin-body" design you'd see on some Squiers a while back. It makes it very comfortable to curl up with and pluck on. Std. Cheap internals (dime-sized pots and Ceramic pups) however, they sound pretty decent and I don't see much need to change them. Nice and warm (with really bass heavy low-end while still sounding pretty clean). Running it through my Fender GTX100 amp it sounds very nice. While it did come in "playable", I did a full set-up on the guitar with a lighter string change-over and adjusted the action and truss-rod as it all came in with a set-up for 10's (I changed it over to 9's for my niece). Beyond that, all I really did was line the internal cavity with Copper foil and grounded it better to reduce interference as much as possible, and now it sounds quite solid. No real fret sprouting upon arrival, just gave the frets a quick polish and cleaned and oil the fretboard and after a few hours of basic set-up and maintenance, it's a pretty decent little guitar now. You could absolutely do worse. The internal cavity was clean upon arrival, and the routing inside was done nice and large so a HSH pickguard could be dropped in with no body modification if one desired. Sorry I have no photos, I didn't have a camera handy and my cell takes awful photos... If you're looking for a solid beginner guitar, or something that you can take around to abuse that still sounds and plays decent with little effort? This guitar is great for beginners or people like me who like to "tinker" on guitars. ... show more

  • Great beginner guitar
Color: US Flag 5W
I got this for my son and he loves it. New strings and a good setup will make it play like a much more expensive guitar. It is great for a beginner and it looks amazing too!

  • Fantastic Looks, Smooth Playability
I have been playing guitar for 10+ years and wanted to add a Stratocaster with a tremolo to the arsenal. I previously sold my Mexican Strat with Texas Special pickups and some other mid-level guitars to buy a high-end Telecaster and a professional-level Guild acoustic. With little left in the guitar budget, I took a chance on the Leo Jaymz ST and am so glad I did. The guitar arrived double-boxed and inside a very cheap gig bag that might be used as a trash can liner--well, it's a little better than a Hefty bag with a handle and zipper, but not much. As a consequence, the reveal was the more dramatic: out of that flimsy black sack slipped a virtually flawless objet d'art with Old Glory emblazoned on the body. This guitar looks fantastic. There were just a few minor finishing details that went wrong: the black paint on the face of the headstock is a tad uneven at one edge where the natural maple meets it. The pickup cutouts are slightly rough in some areas, but these details are hardly noticeable and do not affect playability or sound. The ST came set up perfectly well to my liking--medium to low action, and there is not a fret buzz to be found anywhere. Intonation is perfect. The neck is smooth, the frets are filed nicely, and all the switches and electronics perform well. The pickups are not super high output, but they sound good. I got some nice jazzy tones on my tube amp by selecting the neck pickup and turning down the tone control. The humbuckers in the bridge were great for some overdriven AC/DC riffs. The combinations in-between aren't bad, either. It comes strung with very light strings "for beginners," the company advertises. Indeed this is one thing I will change, adding .10 gauge or higher, and this will undoubtedly improve what is pretty fair tone as it is. I like this guitar for a beginner because it is easy to fret notes and sounds at least as good as Mexican Strat. Experienced guitarists on a budget can't go wrong, either. Would I rather have a made in America Fender Strat--of course, I would! But the days of paying $800-$1000 for a MIM Strat are over for me, since I can get this quality from Leo Jaymz for around $170, including tax and shipping. ... show more

  • Love it!
Color: Pink-Blue Fade
Just got my beginners electric guitar today. Love it! The colors are beautiful! I couldn't find a review on this Guitar on online or on Amazon. So I thought I would post mine so other people can see what it looks like in person. It took me a while to tune it. I don't know why it's not wanting to stay in tune. But I will figure it out. I might have to take it to a music shop to get them to look at it. But I still love the kit and guitar. The amp that comes with it is small. I thought it would have been a little bit bigger. But so far love it! I got it to learn the electric guitar and play it as a hobby. ... show more
