  • Excellent guitars that will need some TLC. Amazing guitar and sound!
Color: Skull Size: 34.48 inches
I'm reading some of the reviews and glad I didn't listen to some one offs. This is a solid guitar at this price range! I had an Epiphone 'similiar' model which didn't compare. Sorry never a Gibson owner because of the price! I'm not knocking Gibson or Les Paul but you charge way too much for your guitars! I'll start with the CONS: First, you have to know how to setup your guitar. If not have a local tech do. Should be less than $100 or learn yourself. Slight fret buzz but not bad (some metal shavings came off from the dremel polishing), lowered the action, the strings were fine (.10s I think) if I could salvage them. But cut em. Polish the frets, oil the fretboard, check your truss rod (mine didn't need adjusting)!! Check your intonation in case. This all goes for a $3000 guitar too ya know!! USA driven, China manufactured, to check for QA. PROs: This has become my new favorite guitar! It's beautiful! The hardware, body is solid, pickups, pots, detail, all good. Heavy but what a quality tone. Excellent! If you have an issue out of the box I expect good things from Leo support, didnt need yet. Please dont dissapoint Leo service! Play through some 'decent gear' and it sounds bright, vivid, loud, beautiful. Overall: Impressed does not explain my first reaction. I bought the Tempest model because I am just overall curious about Leo design, quality, and beauty at this price point! I expect this guitar to remain one of my favs! Update Mar31st - Needed to order a new bridge since E, B were rocking and loose. Asked LJ for support. They offered $20 to replace the bridge. Ok so I did. Next purchase I may send back to Amazon if it has issues. Leo Jaymz support is all email. Support lacks a decent response and time. A live person would be nice too! Add 4-28 Also bought the US Flag guitar. Needed the nut raised slightly. Put some thin double adhesive under it, glued it back in. It's a cheap nut unfortunately but works. Got the annoying mysterious buzz out and action lowered more too. Now it rocks! Still the bridge is cheap and will replace. These things setup right are hard to beat for this price. Sounds amazing! ... show more

  • Awesome guitar!
Color: Skull Size: 34.48 inches
I wasn't expecting much, but once I got it tuned up I was surprised. The action was great; nice and low with zero fret buzz. The Grover tuners kept it in tune and made it easy to tune. No endlessly turning them back and forth to find the right pitch, etc. The intonation was set pretty damn close, but being a perfectionist I adjusted it a little. The neck was nice and fat, which I like, and the truss rod was properly set, not perfectly flat but with that ever-so-slight forward kick it should have. The only bad thing on this guitar are the pickups. They're pretty gritty and thin-sounding. With a good set of Duncans, this beast will be awesome. Worth much more than the $200 I paid for it. I bought the skull finish, and the graphics look great. Nice binding on the front, back, and on the neck and headstock. Great value, playability, and definitely good quality, especially for the price tag! It seriously plays better than my $1200 PRS. It's now my favorite guitar. ... show more

  • Better than it's Price hints...
Color: Skull Size: 34.48 inches
I was expecting a lemon that would need some polish to whip into shape. Much to my surprise? No. Yes, it needs a bit of setting up (action is a bit low, so I get a bit of a buzz on some frettings). But The guitar comes in with nice fretwork and fair polish (better than my $1k Fender), Ebony fretboard is nice and looks great (only wish it had dots instead of large square inlays, but that's just my preference). Guitar is nice and heavy. It feels very solid. Paintjob is solid and doesn't have any noticeable flaws. Pickups don't sound bad. They don't sound like $300 humbuckers, but the guitar only cost $180, so what do you expect? Knobs have a nice feel and seem to have a good liner adjustment. Tuners feel pretty solid for non-locking tuners. Hardware overall looks and feels pretty good. If you want a good Les Paul-style guitar? I would say get this, and at worst get some upgraded humbuckers to drop in and you'll only be at around $500 for a pretty nice sounding player (though, again, it's not bad stock). If you're a beginner, or just don't have much an ear for tone? It's completely fine stock. But before you spend $1k+ on a Les Paul? Get this and modify it. My ONLY complaint? They didn't have the purple one I wanted, so I settled for the Skull (which is subtle and looks pretty nice even though not my preference). Well Done Leo Jaymz! ... show more

  • Lots of guitar for the price- the heck with Gibson
Color: SunBurst Size: Full Size
I've been playing over 50 yrs..I have all kinds of guitars..this LP actually plays better than my ole Gibson. The action & frets are perfect..low action. Great finish. The PU, s are ok..will someday upgrade to lollars or whatever maybe. So far it's the bomb, I might buy a couple more of them and sell the Gibson . ... show more

  • Mind Blown!! Can't beat it for the price!!
Color: SunBurst Size: Full Size
I have been playing for 30 years. I have put my hands on more guitars than I can count. By every manufacturer you can imagine. This Leo Jaymz should cost more than it does. Maybe I got lucky and got one that is flawless, but it truly has amazed me. I have picked up many guitars at more than 5 times the price that didn't look, play or sound as good as this does. For the price you would expect it may not have the best finish, cheap wiring and pots, tuners that won't hold, or pickups that just don't have good tone. But...it doesn't have any of that. And to top it off, while it's not a full solid top, it is a real veneer top and not a photo finish. It's lightweight and plays great right out the box. Smooth round frets with no overhang or sharp ends. I could keep going, but to put it simply it's not a cheaply made guitar. And pictures don't do it justice. It looks fantastic. ... show more
