  • Fake brightness control. Blinding at night. Bad colors. NOT "nearly edgeless".
There is no way to lower the brightness of this monitor. The "brightness" settings appears to just shift the colors on the screen to be darker. The backlight remains extremely bright even with brightness set to zero. Compare it to your laptop screen with the brightness all the way down and it is blinding. This means that the monitor is not very good at night or anywhere except an extremely bright room. Further, if you switch to the SRGB color profile, which is the only way to get decent colors out of this monitor, 1) you get a white haze across the entire display and 2) you don't even get the crummy brightness (because, again, the "brightness" on this monitor works by shifting the colors, not by decreasing the backlight, so allowing you to change the brightness would defeat the purpose of the SRGB calibration, which is accurate colors). When I first plugged in the monitor, it would not display a signal from my computer. I had to turn the monitor off and on a bunch of times, unplug it and plug it back in, before it finally worked. Now that problem is gone, but it was not a good start. Finally, it is not "nearly edgeless", as the advertising claims. There is a very thin piece of plastic around the edge, and if that was the whole bezel, then yes, it would be "nearly edgeless". But the part of the display that looks like the screen actually has an internal bezel that is quite thick. It only looks edgeless when it's turned off. I don't know what I was expecting for a 27" 1440p monitor at $270, but the fake brightness control and the inability to reduce the strength of the backlight (you know, what "brightness" does for every other monitor) make this worthless for me. I'm probably going to return both of the units that I ordered. How disappointing. It was too good to be true. Lesson learned! Pay a little more and get a real monitor that won't make your eyes hurt at night. ... show more

  • Amazing.
The bezel other reviewers are talking about is the actual bezel. There's no friggin displayable pixel there. So ignore that review. This is the cheapest monitor that supports both 1440p AND USB-C. It charges the Macbook pro (2017 model with the touch bar), AND provides a quality display. I highly recommend this to anyone. For the price, it can't be beat. ... show more

  • Overall good monitor for Macbook Pro
I use this monitor for my Macbook Pro (2018), which makes the USB-C input a key feature. The fact that is also operates as a USB hub means I don't have to plug additional cables into the Macbook. The video quality is great, so it does most of what I expect. The monitor has no problem keeping the Mac charged. There are only two annoyances. First, there are no volume controls, and the Mac refuses to adjust the volume if the monitor is the output device, so the headphone jack is pointless. The second annoyance is that the monitor isn't always recognized when I plug in the cable. A few times a week, I have to unplug the cable and plug it back in a few times, then all is well. ... show more

  • Works very well as MacBook Pro USB-C Doc
I purchased this to go with my 2017 macbook pro model. I wanted it because of the USB-C video input and advertised USB-C charging. I wanted a replacement item for my Thunderbolt 2 monitor that I used with my old macbook laptop. This has so far performed exactly as advertised. I have one cable going from my laptop to my monitor, EXACTLY what I wanted. Easy one cable to unplug when I go mobile. I plug in all of my USB accessories into the monitor and use it like a hub. One thing to note. I could not use the provided charging cable from apple, I had to use the included USB-C cable provided with the monitor, not an issue from me. If anything a bonus considering how pricy these cables are. When you set this up .initially with your macbook make sure to set the audio settings correctly. My macbook identified the monitor as a audio output, I needed to change that back to the laptop. ... show more

  • All-in-one docking solution
I purchase all of the endpoint IT equipment for employees in my company and I started buying these for all new employees. I first bought one for myself early 2020 before the pandemic so I can more easily dock my work laptop on the few days I did work from home, while allowing me to easily switch to my gaming desktop when I was done for the day. Obviously, this setup ended up getting a lot more use. I started buying these at work in lieu of buying both docking stations and multi-monitors for our laptop users (I buy all endpoint devices for employees where I work) and have been great. We must have bought at least 30 or so in the year I first bought my own for personal use. They work great as docks because you can use the USB-C cable in tandem with Display Port daisy chaining to run two Display Port monitors off of the one cable and charge the laptop at the same time. The USB ports also allow me to plug in a keyboard, mouse, and USB network adapter, and other USB peripherals to the monitor, completing the docking solution. I highly recommend it as you can easily save about $200 for each workstation buy not buying a separate dock plus it's more stable and works better than most docking stations we've tried. ... show more

  • Good monitor - Buy a different usb c to usb c cable
Monitor is great for charging and displaying video from MacBook Pro and MacBook 12". Con - I have two of these monitors and both have issues with the cables that came with them. I have purchased a replacement usb c cable for each and no longer have issues of video not displaying or dropping.

  • Flakey USB-C Video
Buyer beware. I have about 50 of these, they all exhibit the same issue. Roughly 50% of the time you plug up your USB-C Mac or PC you’ll get only usb and no video. I’ve tried different cables, you name it. Otherwise it’s a fantastic monitor at a great price.
