These are very nice and look wonderful. There are differences though between these and the 100% version from the brand. My windows are all facing the full force of the sun during the day. I like to sleep in total dark and I hate having to run my AC. These curtains do make a big difference for me. PROS: -- These get the living room (with a larger window) almost but not quite as dark. Even in the bright midday sunlight, you can see that they do a good job in the living room. --These really do darken a room. -- To my surprise, they also really tamp down outside noise. I live at the front of the building and I love that I'm not hearing all the distant chatter and moving about. -- They look more lux than I expected for the price. There is nothing cheap-looking about these. -- The black ones don't accumulate dust. I was worried about that because we get a lot of dust. -- Out of about 6 brands I priced, these were the best for quality. Also, you get 2 panels for the price. -- Though these did have some wrinkles when I unpackaged them, those fell out after a couple of days when I used wrinkle-release spray. Do that after you hang them up and the wrinkles gradually fade. -- I have yet to turn on my AC this summer & usually, I have to as soon as we hit 80F. There are no real negatives but I want to point out something. The grommets are large and can let in a lot of light. I hung mine higher than I expected to work around this. You can see that the living room curtains sit a bit high off the floor. It doesn't look bad but just plan for this. I also threaded some fabric through the bedroom curtains to block the grommets. Comparing these "regular" blackouts to the 100 % blackout curtains (from the same brand), I prefer the 100% version for the extra cooling effect alone. These are (according to the seller when I asked) "85%-99% blackout". I think they are correct. Just pay attention when ordering because it's easy to get these instead of the 100% blackout version. (I do prefer the 100% ones for the extra cooling I get from them.) For cooling, these have been so nice. I can tell a difference with these in the living room. However, there is a HUGE cooling effect with the 100% blackout that I have in my bedroom. Between these and the floor fan, I have no need yet to turn on the AC and the outside temps here have been as high as 85F. The humidity is really high with the heat. These curtains - even the "regular" blackout ones have been a big help. But, again, I would suggest just getting the 100% blackout. They are worth every penny for what I save on my electricity. Keep in mind that it's going to depend on how much temperature protection you need. If you just need decent cooling (or heat retention), these are really good. If, like me, you are dealing with a lot of heat from the sun go with the 100% blackout from the brand. ... show more

Blackout Curtains don't have a sheerness. If the curtains are true Blackout curtains like these, they are not sheer the fabric is soft feels like microfiber and hangs nicely right out of the package not wrinkly the grommet tops are secure these curtains will wash well in my no impeller washer on cold just because these curtains do not have the textured foam backing that so many of these thermal blackout curtains have. Yet these curtains are heavy enough to block out the light in my bedroom making it easier to sleep in the dark. As to the thermal part of description I will say these curtains keep my room dark and nice and cool so far in this summer heat so, I will be buying more of these curtains for other room in my house. ... show more

So, the curtains don’t really “black out” all the light, but they do darken the room, and they are good quality and look very nice once hung. I did buy the “blackout” curtain rod that lets you wrap the curtains as as close the the wall as possible so there is no light seeping through the sides, but they would need some type of additional material on the back to truly and completely black out all outside light. Still a good buy in my option. No regrets. Also, it helps if you buy the curtains as wide as possible. I did buy the 54” w at first and they were too light. I returned those and got the 66” w and that made all the difference. ... show more

I bought a pair of Walmart Black-Out curtains (one with light streaming thru on an overcast rainy day) and notice the difference with this Amazon brand - tremendous difference! I read some of the reviews and you have to make sure curtains are long enough and wide enough to cover window and much more! You also have to make sure you have black-out or darkening blinds if you want total darkness, we don't have both but the curtains alone worked enough for us! ... show more
