One of the Most Fun LEGO Display Sets I’ve Built
I was really excited about this set because I have always liked the LEGO sets based on classic video games, and the Donkey Kong arcade theme is just a perfect fit. This ended up being a really enjoyable build, and I love that there is more to it than simply building an arcade cabinet and putting it on a shelf. The build itself has a nice amount of variety. There are definitely repetitive parts, which you have to expect with all of the platforms, ladders and barrels, but I never found it boring. Watching the arcade screen come together was probably my favorite part. There are a lot of little details that make it immediately recognizable as the original Donkey Kong game. What really makes this set fun is the interactive part. You can actually release the barrels, move Jumpman with the joystick and use the button to make him jump. I honestly expected this to be more of a gimmick that I would try once and then forget about, but it is surprisingly fun to play around with after the set is finished. The mechanism is also pretty clever, and I enjoyed seeing how everything worked as I was building it. It is also a great display piece. It has that retro arcade look without taking up the amount of space an actual arcade cabinet obviously would. The Donkey Kong, Jumpman and Lady characters really complete the look. The price is definitely on the higher side, but this feels more substantial than a basic display set because of everything going on mechanically. Overall, I had a lot of fun building it, it looks fantastic displayed, and the working arcade features give it a little extra personality. If you are into LEGO, Nintendo or old-school arcade games, there is a lot to like about this one. ... show more

Great finished product
Great challenge, nostalgic memories seeing it come together! Worth every dollar. lol update I thought I was killing it and got all the way up to the sign and decided to try a barrel and I put it in and it disappeared. Yeah so I’m really getting my moneys worth because I have to take it apart and level by level to figure out where I messed up. So again great product. ... show more
