There aren't many artwork LEGO sets. If you're trying to decide between Starry Night and the Great Wave sets (the two big, currents ones), they each have their strengths, but Starry Night has the more 3D feel to it that makes it a great display set (and a fun build). That LEGO added in the Van Gogh minifig with a paint brush as if he were painting the starry night as it was makes it even more endearing and a great take on the original artwork itself; it's bringing Starry Night into the world of LEGO much like Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movies are a great take on JRR Tolkien's original books. The movies could never replace the books, but they are fun foray into the world of Tolkien, and this LEGO set is much the same with Starry Night. Definitely recommend. ... show more

    • Usually do puzzles, first time doing a lego set.
For background, my wife and I do many puzzles and have never done a Lego set together. I haven't done anything with Legos since I was a kid, but this set was on sale and seemed like a fun challenge. This set is 2300+ pieces and we typically do 1000 - 2000 piece puzzles so I was a bit concerned about the difficulty. Turns out, it would be similar to doing nine 250 piece puzzles with exact instructions on where to put the pieces, meaning it wasn't much of a challenge to complete. I imagine a 10 year old could do this with parental help. It was still fun, enjoyable, and turned out beautifully, but I wouldn't mark it down as challenging. I would say it was worth the money given the amount of time we spent on it (less than 10 hours) and the fact that it will remain a decoration in our house for decades to come. ... show more

    • It’s a little pricey but worth it in my opinion
I purchased this Van Gogh set for my husbands birthday gift because that’s his favorite artist. It is pricey and a bit smaller than I expected. The quality is great and sturdy. I do think it’s worth the price if you’re a VG lover. I think it’s such a unique gift idea and piece to have. We put it together and enjoyed some wine, it was a lot of fun! This is great for a little at home date night/quality time. The piece is beautiful, gorgeous colors just as you’d expect. My favorite thing is that you can actually hang it on the wall once it’s completed, which I had no idea when I first bought it! I highly recommend for all the VG fans out there. ... show more

my boyfriend absolutely loves legos and i bought this as a gift because of course the concept is so unique. everything came with the purchase and there was no damage to the product itself. this is a unique set to have so i highly recommend getting this to build and add to your wall!

I hope Lego produces more 3D art sets just like this. Brilliant to see Lego being used in such an abstract and artistic way, focusing on blending color and abstract shape. This set arrived with exactly one missing piece, unfortunately, so it took some creative thinking to work around that. (It was a hinge used for setting some of the swirls at an angle, so kind of a big deal to lose that one.) Truly brilliant. If it existed for Van Gogh's Sunflowers I'd buy that one too. ... show more

Don’t come into this build thinking it’ll take as long as me lol. I put it on hold on and off plus a Europe vacation in between so that’s why it took so long. If you have time to work on it for long periods then you’ll finish it faster. It has a lot of BLUE pieces in various shades so it gets redundant and a bit tiresome to stack blue on blue with more blue after a while (hence the breaks I took). Be aware not to skip steps while stacking the background because it will mess up the black frame. I did this and the black frame pieces didn’t line up. My husband actually counted the rows to determine where I went wrong and I missed a whole row lol. Thankfully it’s easy to take the row apart to add on what I missed, but it’s still a pain. If you don’t know what I’m referring to…just wait, you’ll know 😉 The finished product is amazing and I can’t wait to hang it up far far away from where my kids can reach it 😅 ... show more

I love Legos and I recently started getting back into building them. I bought the Starry Night with some extra money that I had laying around and while I was skeptical at how much fun it would be to put together, I was amazed at the immense enjoyment I received from building this masterpiece! This is not your standard Lego set, much of it is smaller sized pieces that take a while to find and put in place. But that was half of the fun. It was amazing watching this piece come together, much like Van Gogh probably felt! It makes a very cool display piece and I currently have it hanging up in my office. I'm almost tempted to purchase another so that I can put it together again but Lego has so much to choose from that I'll just try another set. If you enjoy Legos and have a minor interest in art, buy this set. You will love it! ... show more
