  • Great game, but can be costly if you end up loving it... which we did!
My wife and I played several of the lego games and got 100% for them all... They cost us roughly between $20 - $40 and inluded 100+ characters... In order to get more characters, you need to buy the physical character expansion. That being said, I paid around $40 for the starter and another $260 for a bunch of expansions that I wanted. The good thing was that unlike other purchases I make, the wife was okay with it since this is the one type of game that we can share enjoyment with together. So here are some of the positives: 1) Love being able to play with different characters in different dimensions. For example, the joker is the boss in the Simpsons base game level 2) Once you buy an expansion, you get the open world for that character. So far we've only checked out the back to the future world and it is massive with all three movies 3) Ghostbusters. Need I say more? 4) The physical mini figures and vehicles are actually pretty cool. Considering how expensive legos are anyway, it's a bonus to get the figures. With many places now offering the sets at half price, it really isn't too much of a difference compared to normal lego sets. 5) I love when you put on a character that on screen instructions come up for their corresponding vehicle 6) I was wondering what you do with all the coins. In other lego games, you buy characters and vehicles. Being that this one you need the expansion packs, I like how you can upgrade the vehicles so the coins still have a purpose. 7) While we leave the physical characters on the base, you don't have to do that. If you look around on ebay you can just buy the bases to save on some money 8) If you don't want to buy some characters, there's an option to "rent" them in the game for 50,000 coins (not real money). We've done this a few times to avoid buying characters we didn't want to use all the time. Some drawbacks: 1) Being that you are moving characters around all the time, you need to physically do this with the base. The cord is about 7 feet long, but doesn't reach our couch. That being said, I bought a 10 foot usb extension cord. From what I've read online, it should work. 2) When you rent a character, it's only for 30 seconds at a time. I wish they would charge me more of the in game coins for a longer period of time.. perhaps a minute. 3) Unless I am missing something, there is no 100% to keep track of. You can see how many minikits, red bricks, coins per world, etc. that you've collected though. Overall, I kept saying I wasn't going to buy this game because the expansion packs make it so expensive. However, after playing for roughly 5 hours, I'm already in love with it. My wife and I both are really enjoying it. Yes, it's a lot of money, but we just bought a bunch of the expansions as we see how cool the game really is. I'm happy we took the chance and bought the original set. ... show more

  • It's amazing! So much fun!
It's a fantastic game, my boys and I are having a great time playing! So excited to collect each set and see how it adds to the overall experience. Once you get the hang of it, what does what and how the controls work, it's perfect. I like the idea of earning the instructions along the way, it just adds to the anticipation of each level and each experience. Some folks are complaining about having to play to get the instructions, but I do not see it as a negative. Many games require you to play for awhile to earn upgrades, new weapons, etc. Dimensions is doing the same thing. With any game, you don't start with the best weapon from the get go, you earn it. Lego is just taking it a step further and allowing you to actually hold that new weapon/vehicle in your hand and actually put it together. Honestly, if folks are that die hard to build vehicles, etc right out of the box, they could do this by just looking at the picture on the box and using some imagination. Most lego fans who build regurally should be able to figure out most of the build that way. Not many pieces, so the build should be pretty easy. Anyway, it's great and I don't mind buying each of the addon sets, infinity and skylanders make you do the same. That's how the game works, that's how lego makes a profit, it's simple business. Sure, I can't afford each set right from the get go, but I got a few to get my boys and I started and am looking forward to purchasing the others down the road. Also, needing to get further sets to access parts of the game, just adds to the excitement and replay value. People just want something to complain about. Ignore the negative Nancys and just enjoy an amazing game! ... show more

  • More to the imagination than meets the eye
The graphics are astonishing on the PS4 and the gameplay is smooth and fun as ever! This game grabs your imagination and runs wild with it in many different realized worlds, quests and characters from popular games, movies and shows. LEGO Dimensions is built to be different in that it is built to evolve as is (meaning you won't need a new game and new characters every year or so). The game REQUIRES an active internet connection to update and play. Many updates or waves of characters and levels are continuing to come through May 2016 in Wave 5 with many more post launch waves coming in 2016 as well. Developer TT Games is currently planning to support Dimensions with new add-ons until at least 2018. Like I said the game evolves, but requires the internet to do this. ***PS4 Version*** I chose this version after playing the Wii U version of LEGO Jurassic World, which is a beautifully created and fun game, and I have zero complaints about the Wii U version. I simply chose the PS4 version of Dimensions because I knew that the game would continue to grow over the upcoming years and I wanted my most powerful system to house that type of game. ***OVERALL REACTION*** 5/5 A must have on any system! ... show more

  • A must buy if you like Lego video games!
Lego Dimensions does NOT disappoint the Lego video game player. There are SO MANY worlds to adventure to, even with just the original, that the price point is, in my opinion, relatively low. It comes with a LOT more hardware than most video games, but still only costs as much as a regular video game. That's awesome! GAH and the CONTENT. I seriously want to plug it into my system and play when my son is asleep! It's enjoyable for everyone, my 4 year old, my 17 year old, myself and my hubby. Girls, boys, doesn't matter, the game play is solid and the characters are adorable. I will one day buy myself the Power Puff Girls and all will be right with the world, but first, all the ones for the kids haha! 10/10 would buy again, and again, and again! ... show more
