  • 5.0 out of 5 stars This is my 7th, 8th next month!
What can I say? Between this series (3-12) and the basic 3-9 bugbusters I'm on my 7th. They are inexpensive, hold zero even with the quick detach, look good, are light yet durable, and so far a few sticky knows until they are broken in had been the only issue. Once you use them they break in quickly. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not perfect
From other reviews I was expecting a miracle product but it's just a small scope. The highly touted 10 yard focus range only gives you a clear picture at the 3X power. If you zoom in it blurs. Works fine at 25 yards at all zoom settings. Love: - Size: Fits on my Ruger 10/22 Takedown beautifully - I expect to start keeping it in the bag again instead of a long hard case. I want to try it on a pistol that has a full rail. - Mounting rings: Quick tighten and release. However: If you move between guns there is a hex screw you may need to adjust to get the levers all the way down and tight. On one of mine they were down but on the other gun they stood up - slight difference in brand weaver rail width. Also, best on Picatinny rails as weaver cross bar spacing may vary in which case you have only a little room for moving the rings. - Once sighted in does not wonder. Cheap scopes can lose center, this one does what it is supposed to. - Really nice adjustment towers. No covers and twist lock mechanism - Side focus/parallex knob - Light Only OK: - Brightness. Not as bright as my really big Centerpoint, which also focuses down to 10 yards at low power. - 10 yard zoom only in focus at 3X magnification - Eye relief. I would like to be a little further back. Bad: - Cross hairs: my cross hair seem fuzzy and are a little hard to see in the dark - almost double vision. Might be my eyes and I find that I can pick one side and shoot accurately with ok groupings. - Not as bright as I would like. The Giant CenterPoint is nice and has illuminated reticles - but is big. - No illumination of reticles. Good for day time but would not work great at dusk. Next time I will likely get an illuminated reticle. If scope size is paramount I may get a lower magnification but illuminated bug buster. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Just ok, not great!
Lots of included features for sure but I think the manufacture does this to compensate for its shortfalls. One big downside is the reticle. The lines are thick and may cover up the target. If the lines narrowed toward the center I would rate this higher. The scope I really like the reticle in is the Nikon 3-9 EFR target dot with parallax adjustment. The downside is it’s a bigger, heavier, and much more expensive scope. With the Nikon, the small dot in the center is perfect because it’s so small. I wish this scope had that reticle. The size of this Bugbuster scope is great. Its a compact scope. The short profile will NOT work with most one piece rings. The clamping area is not long enough. You need single rings ONLY. The included detachable rings do NOT work with a 11mm dovetail. They are included if you have a Picatinny type rail. The parallax knob is very hard to adjust. It needs to be firm but it’s overly tight. I hope it loosens up a bit in time. The glass seems clear and moderately bright. Eye relief is not the best. Its a bit difficult to get your eyes on target. Overall it’s a good scope but needs a little refining. Compared to many low end scopes out there this is not a bad choice. I found this out the expensive way. I do recommend if you can live with its shortfalls. This scope is primarily designed for air guns, not high power rifles. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price
Ok so Just keep in mind this is sub $100 optic. I bought this to use on my airgun because it will focus down to 3 yards. so far it's worked good. It will only focus at 3 yds at 3-5x but at 3 yds anything more is to much magnification. has small window for eye relief and small viewing window but again under $100. comes with sun shade, lense covers and qd rings. rings are ok nothing great and I won't be using them because the qd lever gets in the way of the optional AO wheel I added on. Glass is clear for sub $100 scope. For a Sub $100 scope that comes with shade and rings it's good. Definitely better than comparable scopes in same price range. Time will tell how well it holds up. If you're looking for a sub $100 scope for close to mid ranges for a airgun or .22 I think this is a good choice for budget scope. Just remember this isn't a high dollar scope so you cannot judge this based on comparisons from higher end scopes. I own many optics from under $25 to over $5000 so if you compare it to say my nightforce or vortex yea this thing is gonna suck, but when compared to say stuff you get at walmart in the blister plastic packs this things way better. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Works well but small eye relief window
This works fairly well. I like the objective focus on the left side knob. It looks good, but takes a lot to adjust for good eye relief. Very small window but then again this is a budget scope. I will tinker with it some more but as of right now it's a 3 star for me.

  • 2.0 out of 5 stars Parallax was pretty bad
Have an older Bug Buster mounted on a high power air rifle and it has been wonderful. This one on the other hand was very bad. Couldn't hit anything reliably due to parallax. And the side wheel focus didn't, as it should, remove the parallax. Did return the scope. Too bad as the old one, just as stated earlier, is very nice and very spot on if one takes the time to use the focus wheel. Only difference is in the power. My old one is just a 3-9 and this one is a 3-12. Guess that extra 3-power has a cost in optics quality. Just a guess. ... show more
