  • Overall very pleased
Overall I am impressed with the quality and functionality for under $20.00. The net is compact & lightweight, it easily flips opens and locks in to place, with a twist the pole extends. The rubberized net is better than traditional tied nylon string since it stays open. The frame and handle are made of aluminum. The folding mechanism is made of plastic however it seems sturdy enough. ... show more

  • Deep Net with Coated Netting - Good for Catch and Release
I am primarily a catch and release fisherman, so keeping the fish safe is important. This netting is great for that. It is deep enough to handle most freshwater species I woudl be fishing for, and the coating on the netting not only helps in protecting the fish, but also is helpful in preventing hooks from getting snagged in the net itself. It folds up to be fairly compact, and it is lightweight; making it suitable for the kayak fishing that I do. It telescopes out to a good length for helping in landing the fish quickly. My only concern is that there is some play in the telescoping handle. I understand that will be the case in all of these types of nets; however, the play in this one is much more prnounced than others I use. I feel tolerances could have been a little tighter. It calls into question the strudiness and durability on the net. It has done fine for now; but has not been put under any real strain yet. Time will tell. Other than that, it is a very solid product. ... show more

  • Perfect For Trout
Color: No Telescopic Pole
Great net for stream fishing. I can't speak for saltwater fishing, I'm a trout nerd. It's collapsible and weighs less than a pound which makes it perfect packing in and out of the stream... or lake. The netting is a coated nylon which I prefer over the (now popular) full rubber netting found on far more expensive nets. I'm 100% barbless catch & release and this type of netting is not harmful to trout. It's winter here now and I've managed to use it twice so far since we have sections of tailwater that remain unfrozen most of the winter. I remain frozen but continue to fish. I've already landed a fair share of small-medium Browns, Bows, and Whitefish with it no problem. I'm confident that I could land a 20"+ hawg with it, and I will... just not during the last couple of sessions. The plastic clip is kinda janky and I'm gonna remove that. It might be a nice feature for some but I attach my net differently while wading. I don't own a kayak but I think the handle is sufficiently long to be suitable for that. Overall a nice little net that'll land every trout that most of the far more expensive trout nets can.... at a far better price. I have no gripes with this net. Surprisingly excellent quality for a lower tier net. Very much worthwhile. ... show more

  • Some good and some bad
Color: No Telescopic Pole
So, I included a photo of the net I have been using on my pontoon boat for the last several years. I wanted to show several major flaws in that net and why I ordered the LBW folding rubber net. As you can see in the photo, my old net is too short and narrow. Although it works for the vast majority of trout I land, I also lost the largest trout ever hooked on my boat because the fish exceeded the size of the net. A second major flaw is that the mesh in my old net is a woven product. On too many occasions I have spent waaaaay too much time getting the hook(s) loose from the netting long after the fish was in the boat. This also makes releasing an unwanted fish more difficult and time consuming which can potentially impact survival. When the LBW net arrived I noted several positives and some unfortunate negatives. On the positive side I like the overall increased dimensions of the net basket, especially at the bottom. Look how small my outstretched hand appears under the basket! Curiously, the rubberized mesh appears to be the same mesh as my old net but coated in a rubberized compound. The rubberized finish will help prevent the aforementioned hook entanglement, however, a larger fully rubber mesh would have been preferable. I like the increased handle length and the fact that it can easily be folded since there isn't a ton of spare room on my pontoon boat. I took a picture of the belt clip in use on my shorts pocket. I honestly don't see myself using this feature, but if you hike into your fishing destinations, this might be a plus. I like the simple EVA grip and retaining loop. Nothing fancy, just functional. Now, some bad stuff. In spite of the rubberized mesh, the seams between the net panels are made of some sort of fabric to which the mesh is sewn...with thread (see photo). Yup, that fabric and thread are going to cause the same entanglement problem I experienced with my old net (albiet, less frequently, based on the lesser surface area of the seams). I'm also going to have to keep an eye on the seams over time to make sure the thread doesn't wear and compromise the seams. The other major problem I see is that the handle-to-basket connection bracket. The mechanism is plastic and will be fine 95% of the time. My fear is that a thrashing, heavy trout generates stresses well beyond the actual weight of the fish. The very time you need your net to be strong (i.e. you have your PB trout/bass/catfish in the net) is likely the time you're going to sweat that plastic bracket breaking. All of that being said, I'm going to make this my day-to-day pontoon boat net. The good outweighs the bad of my old net. I'm just going to cringe a bit every time I net a really big fish, right? The price point seems a touch high for the level of quality. Three stars at this time. ... show more

  • Love it
This fishing net has quickly become an essential tool in my fishing arsenal. Its collapsible design makes it incredibly convenient to carry and store, without compromising on durability. The rubber net material is gentle on fish yet strong enough to handle sizable catches. Easily fits with me on the yak. Couldn't ask for a better product at this price. ... show more

  • Neat net
The media could not be loaded. Decent compact net. However I didn't like the wobble in it despite it is strong.

  • Well made!
This is a very handy portable net. It folds in half for easy transport and storage. It has a nice sturdy clip near the middle for hanging on your belt or pants. You can grab the handle and with the flick of your wrist it snaps easily into the open position. With a counter clockwise quarter turn of the handle you can extend the net to its full length. There is a sliding thumb release tab at the end of the net to fold it in half again. This net is very lightweight but yet very solid and well built. The actual net is made of rubber which dries very quickly and doesn't snag hooks so easily. So far everything about this net is very impressive and I do highly recommend it! ... show more
