  • Good quality
Color: Coring Aerator
Works well but it takes awhile. Much cheaper option than renting or buying an electrical one if you've got the patience

  • Solid Aerator
Color: Coring Aerator with Storage Tray
I picked up this coring aerator to help break up my compacted lawn, and it works as advertised. The stainless-steel cores punch through the soil cleanly, pulling solid plugs that improve airflow and drainage. It takes a bit of effort, especially on tougher ground, but that’s expected with a manual tool. The rubber grip is comfortable, which helps during longer sessions, though a slightly longer handle would make it easier to use without bending as much. Durability seems good so far—no bending or warping after multiple uses. Overall, it’s a reliable aeration tool if you don’t mind a little elbow grease. Not quite as effortless as a motorized aerator, but for the price, it’s a solid pick that gets the job done. ... show more

  • Great alternative to renting a machine!
Color: Coring Aerator with Storage Tray
I like this even though it’s a little more work just for the simple fact I don’t have to go back and rake up a the little cores.

  • Larger foot pad needed…
Color: Coring Aerator with Storage Tray
Very well made, works wonderfully! A little wider foot pad would be more comfortable during longer sessions but the stainless construction is great! Foot pad idea coming soon….

  • Good Tool with a Few Considerations
Color: Coring Aerator with Storage Tray
This aerator does its job, but not without some frustration. First things first, I had a heck of a time getting the screws in place to connect the handle and base. The hex nuts were so hard to get on. They also tend to loosen while using the aerator, which is frustrating. The coring plugs work well on damp soil as long as it's not soil with a lot of clay in it. Unfortunately, that's mostly what I have, which means the soil clogs up the coring plugs very easily. I'm not blaming that on the aerator - it's just something to think about if you have similar soil. As far as the durability of the aerator, it's sturdy and should last a long time with proper care. It's also a good size - small enough to be light enough to handle, but not so light as to be flimsy. ... show more

  • A WINNER!
Color: Coring Aerator
This is a high quality aerator. So far I've used it for two 1hr sessions with great success. "High quality" based on: More durable hammered finish vs conventional spray paint, soft, thick rubber grips, stainless steel plate/tines, nyloc nuts provided to keep assembled shaft snug, shaft has solid feel/minimal play, quality welds, 4 tines vs 2 or 3 on most core aerators, and a handy tool included to clean tines when done. "Great success" based on: It works! Cores discharge out top of the plate vs side discharge on some aerators, which I liked because I can clearly see them. When they "stand up" I can give the aerator a quick tap to the side to move cores out of the way. I made a habit of this since the center two cores can eject so straight/solid that they sometimes reach the crossbar above. Working right along for 1hr, I can do approx. 350 square feet. See pics of work area and collected cores. Tines are spaced 3" on center, so went with that grid pattern. Work went smooth -no problem with plugged tines. Why I decided on a manual aerator: I'm in my late 60's and in good shape. Other core aeration options: rent a walk-behind, buy a tow-behind, or hire it out. Researched it all: young, fit guys complaining of getting beat up by walk-behinds, the hassle of assembling tow behinds, as well as not being able to back up and finding a place to store that thing, and cost of hiring it out along with getting it done exactly as I want. For my yard, decided that a manual aerator was worth a try. Instead of playing Beat The Clock with an expensive rental, plan to aerate the lawn in sections, at my own pace. Based on my 1st two 1hr sessions, this plan will work fine. Observations based on my experience: If you have buried fiber (Fios/etc) to your house, avoid that area. I watched my fiber install years ago: they just slit the grass and laid the fiber in there. The fiber is at a depth these tines can hit! Pressing down on the handle and down with my foot easily plunged the tines full down. My lawn has no clay. The "foot bar" is comfortable to use, vs placing foot on the bottom plate for some aerators with side discharge tines. Work backwards to avoid walking on the cores. They will stick to the bottom of your shoes. Watch the plate edges: when caked dirt appears, clean off bottom of plate. Comes off EZ. Caked dirt can build up to almost 1", which prevents full plunge of tines. Only had to clean the plate once in a while -not a big deal. Manual aeration is not hard to do. Based on my experience, if you're reasonably fit you can aerate your lawn in sections at your own pace, not get beat up like with walk-behinds, and not leave lots of areas that a tow-behind can't reach. Lots of trees (and roots) in my yard, therefore knew that a walk behind would bounce all over the place, doubling my workout. Manual aerator is much easier: hit a root -just pull it out and move to the next row. Another benefit of aerating : Using cores to level my lawn. Included pic of core piles from one approx 350 SF section. I recommend this aerator: it's cost-effective, provides flexibility as well as exercise, and should last a long time. ... show more

  • Solid and easy to use!
Color: Coring Aerator
We have two variations of manual aerators. Of the two this is both me and my husbands favorite. This one is much more substantial with good weight. You can essentially keep one foot on and "walk" to aerate. We have dense clay soil and this unit handles it relatively well. The tines are a smaller diameter than the other making it more prone to becoming clogged. Even if a tine is clogged it still perforates the soil easily. Compared to our other this one one has a rubberized grip vs the foam with the other. The rubber handle offers better grip and will certainly hold up better.. Our other model also had the collection basket which we aren't fond of. We're not concerned with the plugs being redeposited on the ground and if you aren't either skip the one with the collection tray. It just adds the extra step of frequently emptying. We had no issues with assembly and unit seems very solid. Very happy with this aerator. ... show more
