  • Larger foot pad needed…
Color: Coring Aerator with Storage Tray
Very well made, works wonderfully! A little wider foot pad would be more comfortable during longer sessions but the stainless construction is great! Foot pad idea coming soon….

  • Does the job !
Color: Coring Aerator with Storage Tray
More plastic-y feeling than others on the market - but it does it's job, you just need to give it a little push into the ground to ensure it gets through, the nozzles get clogged easily though even with an opening on top.

  • A WINNER!
Color: Coring Aerator
This is a high quality aerator. So far I've used it for two 1hr sessions with great success. "High quality" based on: More durable hammered finish vs conventional spray paint, soft, thick rubber grips, stainless steel plate/tines, nyloc nuts provided to keep assembled shaft snug, shaft has solid feel/minimal play, quality welds, 4 tines vs 2 or 3 on most core aerators, and a handy tool included to clean tines when done. "Great success" based on: It works! Cores discharge out top of the plate vs side discharge on some aerators, which I liked because I can clearly see them. When they "stand up" I can give the aerator a quick tap to the side to move cores out of the way. I made a habit of this since the center two cores can eject so straight/solid that they sometimes reach the crossbar above. Working right along for 1hr, I can do approx. 350 square feet. See pics of work area and collected cores. Tines are spaced 3" on center, so went with that grid pattern. Work went smooth -no problem with plugged tines. Why I decided on a manual aerator: I'm in my late 60's and in good shape. Other core aeration options: rent a walk-behind, buy a tow-behind, or hire it out. Researched it all: young, fit guys complaining of getting beat up by walk-behinds, the hassle of assembling tow behinds, as well as not being able to back up and finding a place to store that thing, and cost of hiring it out along with getting it done exactly as I want. For my yard, decided that a manual aerator was worth a try. Instead of playing Beat The Clock with an expensive rental, plan to aerate the lawn in sections, at my own pace. Based on my 1st two 1hr sessions, this plan will work fine. Observations based on my experience: If you have buried fiber (Fios/etc) to your house, avoid that area. I watched my fiber install years ago: they just slit the grass and laid the fiber in there. The fiber is at a depth these tines can hit! Pressing down on the handle and down with my foot easily plunged the tines full down. My lawn has no clay. The "foot bar" is comfortable to use, vs placing foot on the bottom plate for some aerators with side discharge tines. Work backwards to avoid walking on the cores. They will stick to the bottom of your shoes. Watch the plate edges: when caked dirt appears, clean off bottom of plate. Comes off EZ. Caked dirt can build up to almost 1", which prevents full plunge of tines. Only had to clean the plate once in a while -not a big deal. Manual aeration is not hard to do. Based on my experience, if you're reasonably fit you can aerate your lawn in sections at your own pace, not get beat up like with walk-behinds, and not leave lots of areas that a tow-behind can't reach. Lots of trees (and roots) in my yard, therefore knew that a walk behind would bounce all over the place, doubling my workout. Manual aerator is much easier: hit a root -just pull it out and move to the next row. Another benefit of aerating : Using cores to level my lawn. Included pic of core piles from one approx 350 SF section. I recommend this aerator: it's cost-effective, provides flexibility as well as exercise, and should last a long time. ... show more

  • Sturdy and well designed aerator
Color: Coring Aerator
I am very pleased with the Lifeswell coring lawn aerator. The painted finish on the product is very nice and the aerating spikes are stainless steel, so this should not rust. I love that the handles have soft rubber grips attached—makes it comfortable in the hands. After assembling the two part handle and attaching the aerating spikes plate, it is a SOLID unit—just be sure to tighten the locking nuts and two screws tightly. The aerator performed very well on my moist lawn. Cores would continue to push thought the base plate after each I push into the turf. I Gould it important to ensure I was pushing *straight* down versus at an angle for best results. A boss with the aerator is the small “tine clearing fork” gray is provided. It is great at pushing the cores out so the spikes are clear before storing away. All in all, I give this core aerator good marks for appearance, design, and functionality and would highly recommend it for use on small to medium sized lawns. ... show more

  • Wobbles side to side
Color: Coring Aerator
I was quite excited to try out this manual aerator tool (no tray) on my small front lawn. Assembly of the tool (3 pieces) was fairly easy except for the hex nut connecting the handle to the base unit. This proved more difficult than expected, then I had to tighten the hex nuts after about 10 uses on the grass. My grass was lightly watered so a few sections were still lightly damp. It wasn't super hard to press, yet the handle wobbles side to side slightly. It progressively got worse. I re-tightened and it would be okay for about 2 uses and then the connection would have a slight wiggle. I even tried to install the screw and hex nut on alternate sides. Even after multiple attempts at tightening, I cannot get the handle to not wobble. I think the tool has great potential if it doesn't wobble when I put force down towards the ground. • Fairly heavy duty and can get the job done if you're patient.
Color: Coring Aerator with Storage Tray
This tool feels pretty sturdy. It's easy to put together eventually, the screws are going to loosen and you will have to stop everything to retighten. Also, I'm not convinced that the "storage tray" is useful but it will contain the plugs until the corers get clogged...and they WILL get clogged. Which is a real problem for me because where I live, the soil is mostly clay so every time I step on it, it's automatically clogged. Is this the tool's fault? No. But it is something to be aware of. They include what looks like a weeding tool to clean them out but mine are so compacted, the tool does nothing. Overall, this is a good tool to aerate a small lawn if you have the right type of soil. It would be rather tedious to use on a large lawn. A quick search reveals that this is a drop-shipped item, so I'd check the competition to make sure you're getting the best price. ... show more
