I'll say right out of the gate that I wasn't expecting much from this guitar. I'd been watching vids and reading reviews on it but getting a true feel for the capabilites of the guitar and it's tone was pretty difficult as a lot of the video reviews were of the guitar plugged in and were more than likely sponsored purchases. I finally decided to just buy the thing, knowing full well that there was a very good chance I'd end up returning it to Amazon. It arrived this week and I honestly couldn't be more pleased. Without even activating the onboard effects, it sounds really nice. However once you turn on the reverb, chorus & delay, it's pretty amazing. I haven't plugged the guitar in yet...I've only played it dry and with the onboard efx playing through the guitar. Either way though, it's impressive. Some of the comments folks have shared re: their own personal issues are subjective (i.e. nut width, etc.). Others are easily remedied by a simple setup (I'll be taking mine to my guitar guy to make a few adjustments that fit my personal preferece such as lowering the action a bit). Otherwise, it's rock solid and Plek'd at the factory. I've always thought it would be nice to have a guitar to toss in the back of my truck that I could rely on anytime. This one fits the bill perfectly. My Martin's, Taylors & Gibson's will always have a place in my home and studio but the little Lava ME2 will be a staple of my travels. Well done Lava. p.s. I considered the ME3 but went with the simpler (and less expensive) ME2 and don't regret it. To me, a guitar should be simple and inspire creativity, not inhibit it. Just my personal opinion...the ME3 might be great! ... show more

Fun little traveler's guitar. I've been eyeing this guitar for a few years now and I finally got it once the price dropped due to its next-gen model coming out. Product quality is great and sound quality is amazing for the size. I prefer deeper sounds for a guitar so when I plug in the guitar, I think it sounds too bright for my taste. However, the body of the guitar is small, so I expected it to be a brighter sound. For mine, it stays in tune unlike some of the reviews said. It's easy to take care of. It's light, durable. One thing to point out, I wish the guitar case had a pocket and removable strap. I usually prefer to store my capo, picks, and guitar straps and I was able to do it, but it would've been nice to have a pocket or a little compartment below the bridge part. Also, I prefer to just carry the guitar case with the side handle instead of wearing it like a backpack, but the straps aren't detachable so it's annoying... This is a great and fun guitar, especially for traveling. It has big sound even before you turn on the effects. Only drawback is that it doesn’t come with a strap that has to be ordered separately and considering the price it should be included.

    • String Spacing Way Too Narrow

Having played the Lava Me 2 (white) guitar for a couple of days, I decided to return it for a number of reasons. First, the little guitar is very "neck heavy." Even while sitting on your lap, you literally have to hold the neck up otherwise it will want to dive down. Next, the little guitar lacks much of a waist and has rounded edges, so it tends to want to slide around even though it has a "matt-ish" finish. Third, it is heavier than I expected for a small (travel) guitar. Finally, and what I view as its biggest flaw, is the tight string spacing. I have other guitars with a 1-11/16" nut width so I am familiar with that size, however, the string spacing on the Lava Me 2 is VERY narrow, and consequently, uncomfortable for anyone with adult-sized hands. Lava could have moved the two E strings closer to the outside edge of the nut/fretboard, and then widen the string spacing for the other four strings. And even at the bridge/saddle end, there isn't much string spacing especially for someone interested in finger-picking (as opposed to using a flat-pick). Why didn't they just make the nut width at 1-3/4 inches? On the other hand, it does sound quite good for a small-body guitar. The volume is surprisingly loud and the bass is deep considering its smallish size. It will not, however, compete with a dreadnaught or jumbo guitar (or banjos) so don't expect to use it in a bluegrass/old time jam. But in a quieter setting, it would work just fine. Also, the "special effects" (i.e., reverb, chorus, and delay) are fun to play with but not really necessary (IMHO). The Lava Me 2 also seems well constructed and, I expect, durable considering it is made from a polycarbonate-carbon fiber composite. Time will tell. The bottom line, would I recommend the Lava Me 2 to others? Probably not unless: (1) one was really looking for a weather resistant travel-size guitar; and (2) if it was for someone will smaller hands such as a small adult or a child. ... show more

    • Decent guitar for money

Has no inlays on fretboard, action a bit high but can be adjusted. Instructions not real clear and extremely small print. Utubers to the rescue I ordered black and recieved white guess I will just keep it however it is a stark white and not glossy. Has a very nice case and was protected well in transient. Wouldn’t power off so returned just recieved another today wrong color but at least the switch works has good sound may go to lighter gauge strings as I usually use 10’s and this comes with 12’s still haven’t recieved any tracking info on return or notice it has been recieved sent Monday so tomorrow will be one week. Still really enjoy the guitar just wish customer service was better. There is at least one other carbon fiber manufactures but less expensive and no effects so not sure how they would be ... show more
