I found this to be an easy one button operation to open, as well as close. Not super small, but is slender and a good travel companion. I ordered this umbrella and I must say that it'll work I suppose. I thought it would be more durable from the elements of wind. It held up as far as just raining conditions but when wind was a factor, the umbrella did not hold up. It blew back several times. Also, it was very hard to collapse to the point that it doesn't fit back into the travel sleeve that it comes with. Overall, I was not pleased at all. ... show more

This umbrella covers more than I thought. I tested it in a Florida storm, and it worked great. It's compact when stored, but it's tough to push down. That same tension helps it stay open in strong winds, so I'm fine with it.

While I like the portability of this little umbrella, I was under the impression that it would have opened up bigger than it did. According to the pictures on the sales page, this little umbrella will open up quite large to protect the occupant from the elements. Once opened, I found that the span was no bigger than a regular umbrella that would sell for $3 or $4. It boasts of having a double-ribbed structure that, allegedly, protects it against wind better than other umbrellas. Well, I just happened to test it out on a rainy, blustery day and it did no such thing. It was no more effective than any other umbrella at resisting wind, in my opinion. I'm not saying I don't like the umbrella or that it doesn't work, I'm simply stating that it's a bit overhyped. It's claims of UV protection are true of any umbrella you open under the sun. It's great for those times when you want to travel, but also want to be prepare for adverse weather without having to put a massive umbrella in your suitcase, LOL, but I don't know about the rest of the claims. ... show more

> Lantusire Large Double-Ribs Umbrella Automatic Folding Umbrella for Women Men, Travel, UPF 50+ UV Protection (Khaki, 46-inch Arc Canopy, 12 Ribs) (~$20) The Good: + Not only does this have 12 ribs (50% more than most), but each rib itself is made of two smaller ribs (see image) which seems to give it some nice flexibility. + I measured about 42" diameter (with some variance due to ribs), which is significantly larger than most travel umbrellas, and this feels like a full-size umbrella which can generally fit two people. + Handle is also slightly larger and more comfortable than a tiny knob on other travel umbrellas. + The material is notably heavier than any other travel umbrella I've used, with a strong light-blocking backing (see image shot directly at noonday sun). + Build quality is very good. Storage strap has a snap, not a Velcro-like attachment. + Value is very good at only 20 bucks. The Bad: - I don't like the marketing of saying it's a 46 inch arc. Including the curve is like including the length of the shaft -- it's irrelevant. The diameter is 42 inches across and that's all that matters. It blocks 42 inches of sun or rain, and not an inch more. - It does not have wind baffles to allow wind to pass through it, so it risks being flipped inside-out or destroyed in heavier wind. You will have to hold onto it well, and keep it angled into any stronger winds. = Overall, this is a great umbrella and punches well above its class. Based on value, size, and apparent build quality, it's highly recommended. (Tested in sun, haven't tested in wind or rain.) ... show more

I got the navy blue color, I love it. The umbrella seems well-made. And the materials used are of good quality. The umbrella opens and closes easily. It's not one of those mini-umbrellas. So, it provides a good amount of protection. When closed, it's small enough to go into your backpack.
