A large number of complaints re the shiny, glossy boot. I agree. But for the looks and price, its hard to beat. It's gonna take a little work. The photo above shows a before and after/side by side difference. I sanded my boot with 300 grit sandpaper. Not too much but just enough to remove the shine. Then I coated it with a product called mod podge with a protective matte finish. Purchase it at Walmart. You can see the difference. Impressive boot - with no gloss. Problem solved. Update: 2 years later - I've wore these boots on a regular basis. The compliments I've received are more than I can count. The mod podge coating only takes a couple of minutes and a couple of coats and I never had to do it again. I'm getting ready to purchase another pair. Will apply the same fix. Quit complaining - for a few bucks you get a great pair of boots. No one ever was able to tell they weren't real. Final update: just received second pair. Received in 3 days - awesome shipping and it wasn't by Amazon but direct from vendor. Photo above illustrates before and after treatment. Perfect. Took one hour. Buy the boots. ... show more

Every negative that's been brought up in the negative reviews is likely right. I've owned true snake skin boots and yes, these are printed on vinyl or some such material. Yes, these weigh half what a boot made of quality leather should. They also cost about a third the price, are comfortable and look fine from five feet away. I'd consider them better than quality. Some thing for an occasional event or the like would be where these fit. I have two classes of shoes. repairable and non. Repairable: My Johnston and Murphy Oxfords that I paid 275.00 for and I'll be able to have serviced and repaired in 8 years. Non: these boots. If I get a year or two of occasional wear and the attention getting at events. that's all I expect from them. Either way, don't wear the same shoes every day. Very fast delivery, well fitting, at first thought they were too small, then I took out the extra cardboard they ship in it. All and all a good deal. Only thing my other snake skin boots did not have the clear coating over them.

Cheap, cheap, cheap. I can't believe these things were over $100. They look like they're made out of tin foil. And I don't mean the nice tin foil. I mean the CHEAP tin foil. I could tell they would fall apart within a couple minutes of wearing them (not to mention when trying them on, they were far too small). Yes, I know these are cowboy boots and they're supposed to fit tightly... But they're not supposed to fit so tight as if I were just stung by 100 bees on each foot. ... show more
