  • Not my color, but I love the rest!
Color: 158 Red Is Drama:
I received this item through the Vine program. It arrived in good time. It was shipped in a 10x6x4 box. Inside the box was packing paper, and the lipstick in the manufacturer's box. The color was "158 Red is Drama". It swatched a bit darker than it looks on me, which for me is normal. I can put on a blue based red and it will look brown or even orange. This one sadly also was an odd shade on me, although it was a nice pink-red after blotting thoroughly! The bullet is very cool. The case is black, with a gold top that you press. Very fun and elegant looking. The actual bullet then drops down about 3/4" so it can be removed. Typical twist to raise from there. Push the bullet in to the case all the way and it clicks firmly shut. Nifty! The formula is lush. The first ingredient is dimethicone, so even though this is supposed to be quite matte, it is in no way drying on the lips. It also has hyaluronic acid, which is very good for the skin. It was smooth in application, no tugging like typical flat matte lipsticks. It stayed soft, moist, and malleable for the entire 10 minutes I wore it. It has a soft Lancôme fragrance that either faded, or I got used to it. I noted no taste, either of petroleum or carnuba. The color really didn't work for me, so I tried blotting it. This gave it a bit more matte look, and took away a bit of the orange, but it still wasn't right on me. I blotted it more until there was just a wash of color. It was a bit more pinky red, but not like a stain. Color did stay after a firm swipe with a tissue, as did the hand swatch, but it washed off easily enough with soap and warm water. Lips are soft, but want a balm or gloss as the dimethicone does dry me out. Although this color, Red is Drama, did not suit me right now, I would be willing to try another color in this formula, or this color when I have a bit of a tan. It was quite pleasant to wear, and the case is fun and pretty. I did not do a long wear test or an eating test with this, but it seemed as stable as any lipstick. I feel reapplication would be easy too. Thank you for the chance to try this new formula. I like it a lot! My lips are very sensitive and will break out with cheap lipsticks, but this formula is very good for me. ... show more

  • Perfect lipstick for video and streaming production
Color: 290 Merci Simone: cool mauve pink
I ordered this lipstick in shade 290, Merci Simone, because I need a lively neutral lipstick that is pigmented, matte, and longwearing for video teaching sessions under harsh lights. Pros: Luxury packaging: The tube has a recessed button on the top of the cover that releases the lipstick. This tube will not accidentally open in a pocket or handbag. Lip treatment formula: Rose oil and hyaluronic acid give the product a lovely scent, easy application and keep lips plump and soft. Color: Merci Simone 290 is listed as a "cool mauve pink". On fair skin, under harsh lighting, this color functions as a true neutral. Under normal lighting, the pink tones are clear and soft, like the lips of a little girl. The bold matte formula is highly pigmented and can be used to slightly overdraw lips. There is no shine or glare under video lighting (key lights, two side fill lights with diffusers) I also like wearing this color as a base and working a darker/brighter color on top. Straight red or burgundy lips overpower my fair coloring. Wear: This Lancome Bold matte finish stays on my lips for 5 - 6 hours and wears off naturally. I drink from a tumbler with a straw and a coffee cup, but do not eat during that time. I have not noticed any creeping or transfer onto skin or teeth, but the lipstick does leave a mark on my cup rim or straw. This formula removes with just a microfiber makeup remover and water. Cons: Lancome Bold Matte finish lipstick doesn't dry down enough to support a gloss overcoat. The formula melts into the gloss layer and transfers easily. Overall, if you work on video with key and fill lights, this lipstick is ideal. The matte finish, high pigment load, and plumping ingredients are comfortable to apply and wear but still give a beautiful effect on camera. ... show more

  • Good finish and pigmentation but a little on the dry side
Color: 290 Merci Simone: cool mauve pink
I tried this lipstick in the shades Unleash the Drama (burnt sienna) and Merci Simone (mauve pink). Both were a little lighter in person than in the advertised images, but were close enough that I’m happy with the colors. The bullets feel heavily weighted, as luxury lipsticks should, and have an innovative design where you open them by pushing a button on the top to release the bottom half. This is convenient because it prevents them from coming open in a purse or makeup bag and making a mess. There is a powdery scent, but I really love it because it makes me nostalgic. The formula is not as moisturizing or comfortable as Lancome’s intimatte formula, which I do prefer over the rouge drama matte. It’s still far from the dryest matte formula I’ve tried, and not bad considering how long it lasts. A balm makes it more comfortable. I do suggest exfoliating before applying it, and applying with a brush for a smoother look. ... show more
