I spent 4 hours at guitar center yesterday and picked up probably 10 $1000 guitars for myself and most of them had worst craftsmanship than this one. The frets aren’t all rough like I expected and the tuners aren’t all that bad. The bridge tho is 100% cheapo like you’d expect. Doesn’t sound terrible though I’m running it through Ndsp on my computer so just about anything sounds good. Much better quality than I thought! ... show more

Wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm quite impressed with Ktaxon. I've had many guitars over the last 40 years and didn't really need another one, but my nephew is developing an interest in guitar, so I thought I'd see how this would work for him. I read a lot of reviews and suspected I'd have to set it up for him, as if needed to do with most of the guitars I have. Put new strings on it right away, and conditioned the fingerboard because it was really dry. Pretty soon it started to wake up. The neck is a gorgeous maple, and at first I felt it had a few rough spots, so I got some fine sandpaper and smoothed it out. I tuned it and set the intonation, adjusted the action, and I really didn't want to put it down. It's really comfortable. My Schecter Apocalypse weighs twice as much as this thing, but this sounds every bit as good. I'm mostly playing through a Boss Katana ML II, but I did try the little 5watt amp that came with it. For a kid just starting out, it'll work fine. Seriously, I'm thinking of getting another one for myself. I really wanted to give this 5 stars because for the price it can't be beat. I only gave it 4 stars because most beginners won't know how to set it up and make the most of it. The four stars are what I thought it deserved right out of the box. I'm most surprised by how well it stays in tune. ... show more

For less than $100 you’re not gonna get the best amp or the best guitar. That’s not what I bought this for though. I bought this because I’m very busy and I may not feel good about spending upwards of $300 for a starter guitar and just leaving it in the corner for a couple weeks. I know how to take care of guitars more or less. If you’re a teenager or younger and you’re getting this guitar for the first time you’re gonna be very happy. You’ll learn how to string a guitar, you’ll learn how to tune your guitar, you’ll learn how to play with the knobs and get the right sound out of your amp. Every great musician has a story of the secondhand guitar they got for super cheap at a pawnshop or from a parent or from a grandparent. Those stories are far and few between now because everything is more expensive or comes in a set; Here it is, the cheap guitar that you can mess around with and look back and say “Maybe it wasn’t the best but it’s by far my favorite”. If you want further proof, look up the cost of Billy Corgan’s guitar on the song Mayonnaise. He spent 45 bucks and had a very strange whistle to it because it was so cheap and ended up becoming one of the most iconic songs. Like most things in the world it’s not how much money you spend on it but how much time that’s gonna make you good. This is an excellent purchase. I’m glad I did it. I’ll probably hand this down to my nephew when I’m done with it. In the meantime, I’m using this with rock Smith on my Xbox and I’m having a blast. ... show more
