  • Value for the money
I like this product very much, but when I made the kerf cut the first time I forgot to adjust the angle of the circular saw. By the time I realize it, the cut was angle a little bit. So I wrote to the company (Kreg) if they can send me the two blocks (Forward and back stop} and I will pay for the parts and shipping. They sent me all three wooden parts for the crosscut station and I don't even pay for it. I love the company, I have a few tools from the company I use today. So thank you very much for the parts, ... show more

  • A decent tool
I bought this because you can use the circular saw like a mitre box and put a fairly wide piece on there. It does that very well. Setting it up was fairly easy following the instructions. One thing in fixing it to the work table. No screws come with it to do that and any normal screw head is too big to fit in between the rail that the work clip slides in. Therefore I had to modify a couple screw heads to fit in there. Second thing is I had a 5.5 inch circular saw. To use this you need a 7.25 inch because of the distance from the rails to the cutting board. Other than those things it is a very useful product. ... show more

  • Big annoying problems with it
The clamps are dumb and don’t reach far enough to keep material secure. The extension wings are super flimsy so they don’t really accomplish anything. The surface of station is raised so you have to finagle your own way to clamp stuff. You cannot make higher angle cuts on thin material like trim because both clamps don’t reach. So the material flaps on the unclamped end when cut, the saw bites, and you destroy your kerf line (I did on my 1-10 attempts at cutting until I bought new clamps) The stupid “backboard” extends to the sides for some inexplicable reason so you must precut high angle cuts to fit it in the station. Then even with the longer clamps I bought separately, you still have to waste 2-3” of wood to keep it clamped while cutting the angle. I will likely cut the backboard ends off to make it the same width as the ‘front board’ to fit wood thru the station. These are all just design flaws not “get a real miter saw” flaws. There is another amazon review with a picture showing the clamps he bought - most helpful amazon review of all time. I bought this because I wanted to cut trim to hold screens on old screen frames. There were so many problems i should have just hand cut all my angles and would’ve been done a lot faster. Their product description is totally misleading: “Crosscut up to 12" wide (305mm) and make a variety of miter cuts from 0° to 45°“ FALSE you cannot make 45 degree miter cuts with the clamps provided, nor without tons of waste wood even if you upgrade clamps. “Cut material up to 1 ½” thick” FALSE you cannot cut thin material at higher angles, whether it’s thin vertical or horizontally or both. I don’t know the minimum cuttable wood size or relative max angle cut, and it’ll also depend on wood hardness/density but there are SEVERE lower limits on what you can cut at angles. This is really bad because it seems that’s the most likely stuff people would need to be cutting precisely enough to bother with something like this. I haven’t even tried cutting 2x4 but no way are you clamping it with the included clamps. I’m rather baffled at all these high reviews. I’m sure people will just say I don’t know what I’m doing. Ok, have fun with this thing. Maybe you’re doing the small range of stuff it can do without significant modification and if so it’s a cool product. I’ll most still use this going forward now that I’ve made all kinds of modifications, just it’s really annoying there are so many bizarre design flaws. Only reason I didn’t buy a miter saw is I don’t have the space and wouldn’t use it a ton. You’re welcome kreg for the free product redesign via amazon reviews. I’ll go make more cuts on my massacred kerf canyon now because you didn’t want to tell about all the things you actually can’t do with this product that you say it can do. EDIT: I cut the wide ends of the backboard off so now can fit wood through. Haven’t found any downfall to doing this. Would love to hear Kreg’s explanation for why they are there in the first place instead of identical to the shorter end. Trademark reasons? Definitely increases manufacturing costs because it’s a different piece instead of 2 identical. ... show more

  • simplicity
I love this crosscut, it is simple, accurate and fast. It is the first time that I cut a piece of wood straight. I was able to cut the wood for two drawers in less than 20 minutes. easy to storage and I can use my own circular saw. I am a DIY and for me this device works perfect.

  • Bueno

  • Use the correct size saw
Well made product. Make sure you use the correct size saw with a minimum of a 6 1/2” blade. A 5 1/2” blade is too small.

  • I thought it would be bigger
My circular saw dwarfs it when it sits on it. The instructions are on the weak side and you must study them carefully when putting it together. All the pictures in the instructions show it as being with a left handed saw. Once together it sort of works. I would like it more if it was twice as big. I double check the angles on miter cuts. It is safer than trying to cut things free handed. ... show more
