  • Fun stage piano.
Besides the new gorgeous look with its white pearl finish, the built-in speakers sound good and a joy to play. I own other stage pianos such as the VPiano, CP1, Nord Piano3, RD700NX, Reface CP, also virtual pianos in my DAW, etc. so I believe I have fairly good knowledge and experience with this type of instrument. I am just a music hobbist, enjoy improvising on my own over some cool drum loops. While the RH3 keybed is not the greatest feel (somewhat dull and cheap), the SV2 plays nicely and dynamically. The built-in speaker is a huge plus as I was running out of room in my music studio to properly place the instrument in front of my monitors. The speakers are loud enough to easily fill a small living room. The SV2 also supports half pedal-ing and comes with the appropriate pedal for it, although I ordered the optional D51H pedal for its higher build quality. The keyboard fit perfectly on the STSV1BK stand. I bought the SV2 for its tines sounds since I was a fan of the SV1's tines. The tines without the amp effect sounds plain like the boring tines in the RD700NX, but once you add some of that nice tube amp drive, wow.. thing just sings. While I have no plan to use most of the other sounds besides the grand pianos, the strings in the SV2 sounds very good with lots of character. I will play with the Mac editor later on, but definitely not needed as the front panel is very intuitive without being cluttered. It is definitely a fun stage piano to add to your collection. Update: Mac editor is a must-try as it has more detailed parameters one can edit (especially helpful for effects). It's a simple download from Korg and installs in a few moments. Update2: The tube died already.. not only 2 years old. If you plan to keep this keyboard running for a long time, try keeping the modeled AMP turned off as it seems to use up the life of the tube real quick. I'm going to have to replace it myself by taking the whole thing apart. Wish me luck. The tubes can be had from eBay for about $20 shipped. ... show more

  • Love This Keyboard!
Wanted another digital piano to supplement my Nord (which I love). This Korg is a nice addition. The keys are wonderful, and almost all of the presets are very useable. Great board!

  • World's first designer keyboard?
I believe I get to be the first person to review this keyboard! First off this is by far the coolest looking board I have ever seen! Beats Nord for panache, imo. It's not just white, it's a darker warm white and the paint has nice texture. The shape and design, well it belongs in MOMA. Certainly compared to the average slab. The action is very nice, not too heavy not too light. Lighter than the average I'd say. Is the action perfect? Well, it could be a touch quicker and lighter even still, to my taste. Still overall the best action on a pro stage piano in my opinion. I have been told by Korg that it's identical to the Korg Grandstage. I have played the GS extensively and I feel that this action is slightly lighter and faster than the GS, better. Could be my imagination though. Sounds- piano number 2 and 4 sound very balanced and natural, though there is a slightly compressed effect in the two highest octaves, which I did not hear on the Grandstage. I suspect that the piano samples memory on the SV2 are more limited than on the GS, somewhat. It's subtle. Still very satisfying and more natural sounding than other brands I have tried, though the GS takes the prize for sound. Play around with the eq before jumping to conclusions. Electric pianos? Eh, never had any use for those except as layers, so don't know anything about those really. They sound like... electric pianos... Speakers -Wow, totally not expecting such quality. You could easily play and entertain a small group of people with no additional amp and be satisfied. Nice bass response once you crank up the bass using the eq. Not tinny sounding like the old speakered boards used to be. Don't know how well it would work in a large hall. Still, not the same as having a nice pair of monitor speakers and a sub, but then those will weigh far more than 2.5 lbs extra. Could Korg improve on this? Sure, I can't wait until keyboards have the sample capacity of computer based virtual instruments. What's taking so long? ... show more
