Description

Stylish and compact, Korg's microPIANO digital piano is charming and designed like a grand piano even complete with an opening lid! The microPIANO features Korg's expressive 61-key Natural Touch mini-keyboard, carefully designed to provide true playability. The bold, smooth grand piano sound uses the same stereo samples as Korg's flagship digital pianos, generating full-bodied tones with depth and character. This instrument provides pure piano enjoyment and will enhance your living space simply by its presence. The Korg microPIANO comes well equipped with 61 vibrant and authentic sounds. Keyboard sounds go beyond the traditional pianos to include electric pianos, harpsichords, accordion, celeste, organs, clavs, toy pianos, and more! Outside of the keyboard family, there are also flutes, strings, harps, bells, and mallet percussion sounds - marimbas, vibes, steel drums, even kalimbas and music boxes! Of these 61 sounds, 25 are Short Phrase Sounds that can automatically generate phrases simply by holding down a key. For example, these include arpeggiated piano patterns or even organ sounds complete with phrases from famous pipe organ compositions. Sounds such as toy piano and steel drum offer phrases mimicking the playing techniques unique to those instruments, and can be used as sound effects or as creative ideas. Using these Short Phrase Sounds can allow even the novice player to easily create a satisfying performance. The Korg microPIANO contains 40 demonstration songs featuring mainly classical compositions. Listen to these as demo songs, or enjoy them as background music in your room, just as you would listen to a CD or MP3 player. The demonstration songs can be played using the pre-assigned sounds, or you can play the same song using a different sound.

  • Best micro keyboard ever!
Color: MicroPiano Black
I used to own a few Yamaha mini-keyboards in the pre-digital age. I thought they were great fun, though they didn't have too many sounds and what sounds they did have weren't very realistic. Then in February I was asked to play at a party. I no longer had those mini-keyboards, but figured Yamaha had probably come up with newer models. After some searching, though, I came up empty, but found that the slack had been picked up by Korg. When the Micropiano arrived, I was struck by how beautiful and lightweight it was. The keys were about the same size as the Yamahas I remembered, but the action felt surprisingly good, probably because of the velocity sensitivity, which my pre-digital Yamahas didn't have. The only quibble I would have is that the black keys are a bit too short to achieve the same action as the white ones. But that is more than made up by the quality of the 30+ sounds, the good built-in speakers, the elegant lid, and the portability. It would be better, of course, if it came with MIDI, but that would probably bump up the price, and there's always the (more expensive) Korg Microstation for those who really need MIDI. So for what it is -- a simple-to-use, playable and affordable micropiano with high-quality sounds -- I say Korg has succeeded marvelously. It now occupies a corner of my desk at work and has proven quite effective as a conversation starter and in providing stress relief. ... show more

  • Handsome little toy and good for some work, too!
Color: MicroPiano Black
I'm a graduate student in Music and I usually work on my baby grand. I purchased the Korg MicroPiano so I can work in bed when I'm under the weather. It's been a pleasure using this thing mostly because the sound quality is great (yes, it's super cute but it also has a standard Korg sound engine which means it sounds professional--not chintzy or cheap at all). It can be portable because it runs on 6 AA batteries as well as having an ac adapter. A couple of minuses include: the keys are short so they aren't as comfortable as a standard piano and there is no connectivity other than 1 jack for an amp (when I need to record, I have to do it as a live instrument). All in all, I'm happy I bought this. I'll keep writing Korg to make an updated version with more connectivity and I'll just enjoy my micro piano until then. ... show more

  • Great sound
Color: MicroPiano Black
When I received the micropiano, I noticed the keys were a lot smaller than I was expecting. But the sound was awesome. I mean it's a Korg, right? But because the keys were a bit small for me I sent it back. The seller is awesome. I would recommend if you are looking for a digital baby grand MICROpiano, I would definitely recommend. ... show more

  • A lot of fun
Color: MicroPiano Red
This is not really a piano, nor is it a toy. Somewhere in the middle, but it is really great. I have a Yamaha Clavinova as my real piano, but this Micropiano I can get on my lap and play almost everywhere. As portable as a guitar would be. The keys are not regular size, but even with my 'regular size' fingers I have found no difficulties in playing it. It even allows me some chord I never could play on a regular piano. I like the sounds; well not all but some of them are really a pleasure to listen. Even with the small speakers the sound quality is good. Nothing is perfect: There could be a transport bag included, and a sustain pedal. The Top has no lock to keep it shut when closed, no cover for the keybord, and the volume control is really micro. But all in all I am glad with my micropiano. ... show more

  • Small hands dream!
Color: MicroPiano Red
My daughter is 11yrs and has taken to this like a horse to grass! She can do octaves easily, only wishes it had more volume. She loves the sounds and the demo songs, and for her it was an absolute investment in her talent. Depends what your needs are but great quality sound, totally portable and shipped from Japan to New Zealand in less than a week. ... show more

  • Kork Micro-Piano novice review
Color: MicroPiano Red
Is this a little piano or just a really good toy piano? I bought this for my 3 year old and she loves it, as much for the cute aesthetics of the piano as for the fun she has playing with it. Being small it is good for kids but unlike a toy piano the keys are velocity sensitive. The sound quality is good and volume is ok for its size (see youtube) but won't fill a room. However it has 3.5 mm line/headphone out so you could connect it to external amp or speakers. There's also a few dozen instrument sounds to choose from. It has midi in so you can connect a sustain pedal also. Although it's suitable of kids it is fun for all ages. I'm not a pianist but I have had some fun learning and playing on this little piano. If you want to spoil your child don't waste money on a cheap toy piano, get a cheap little piano like this. ... show more
