  • Love it!
Color: Oregon Trail Java Mattress
I was a bit hesitant on buying this piece of furniture. One, because it was my first time buying furniture from Amazon. And two, because it didn’t have a lot of reviews. But I must say that I love the fact that I took the leap of faith and I was pleasantly surprised on how nice it looks. It was easy to assemble. What really helped me was watching the assembly video. They include the code on the instructions for you to watch the video or you could just read them, which I really didn’t want to do. So, needless to say I am very happy and I’m Glad glad I got this beautiful futon. ... show more

  • Good Quality for the price
Color: Oregon Trail Java Mattress
Very pleased with this purchase so far. Seems very sturdy and good quality mattress for the price. It will take several hours to assemble but instructions are very detailed. Would recommend having a second person ready to help slide the frame in the sockets and barely screw in the side screws so you have room to get it in. ... show more

  • Great Futon!
Color: Oregon Trail Java Mattress
This futon is great! It’s super comfortable and turns into a true queen size bed which was hard to find. It took 2 people to put together but instructions were easy to follow.

  • Cheap breaks away too easy
Color: Oregon Trail Java Mattress
This futon design is flawed or maybe just cheap wood but it broke way easier than I thought it should

  • Reasonably comfortable, great customer service
Color: Oregon Trail Java Mattress
Product shipped in multiple boxes. There was a delay in receiving the package although that was because of issues with UPS. There was some damage to the packaging and a couple small parts were missing, which likely fell out of the hole in the package during shipping (e.g. a nut or bolt). I emailed the manufacturer and they promptly mailed me ALL of the small parts at no charge (I literally needed 1 bolt and 1 but, but I appreciate the extras). I assembled the furniture by myself without any significant difficulty; some steps, particularly setting the “body (i.e. the assembled back and bottom) into the support frame (I.e. legs, arms, and cross beams) would have been much easier with a second person. I initially had some difficulty getting it to stay in the sofa position (it would fall into the bed position on its own). This is one of the questions in the FAQ section of the manufacturer’s website—it suggests checking to make sure the plastic stoppers on the front rail aren’t missing. The stoppers were ended present although it looked like they might not have been “fully engaged”. I ended up leaving some weights on the couch for awhile to keep it in position (I’ve long since removed them and haven’t had any issues although I haven’t had a need to use it in the bed position except one night and then briefly to clean the crevices. Hopefully this issue doesn’t recur—I am still nervous about leaving it too close to the wall but it would probably be fine at this point. I suppose you could use a couple Velcro straps as an added precaution, but I haven’t felt the need to. I sit on the couch almost daily for both sitting and lying. While I haven’t put the futon in the bed position except once or twice, I’ve fallen asleep (and slept through the night) while it was in the sofa position. It’s a little firmer than I would ideally like for a sofa or bed (and I might get a mattress topper if I expect someone to use it as a bed for more than a day or two), but I’m still comfortable on it while using it for hours at a time (6 ft, 225 lbs). For comparison, when I was a student rather than go to a library I would often sit on “modern” couches and chairs while on campus and I would often become notably uncomfortable after a few hours. After 2.5-3 months, I woke up one morning (sleeping on my bed, not the couch) and found on of the corners sunken. The front leg had partially separated from the rest of the arm piece (connected by dowels; the whole arm piece including both legs is preassembled). At least one of the holes had started to split/chip. I tried to reinsert all the dowels, but it wouldn’t stay connected. I emailed the manufacturer again (info@kodiakfurniture.com) and they have promptly sent replacement parts at no cost. Customer service has been excellent. ... show more
