First off, the frame looks almost exactly like the picture, which is always good. It is very solid and while I can't tell what wood it's made from, it's obviously real. The hardware is also amazing. All the screws tighten into pre-installed metal nuts or into slotted barrel nuts. These additions make the frame sturdier while also reducing the chance of splitting the wood. While sleeping on it, it makes some creaking sounds (which I actually enjoy) but nothing out of the ordinary. It doesn't move when I shift which. The other thing I wanted to mention was that this had the best assembly instructions I've ever seen. Not only was everything labeled with numbers that were tracked in the instructions and also on removable stickers on the pieces, but it was COLOR CODED! You can still make some mistakes, but they really went above and beyond in trying to make this as easy to assemble as possible. Some important things to note: 1. You NEED two people at least to build this. You can do most of it with one person but there are a couple steps that absolutely require two people. Three people would be even easier. 2. When it says to leave all the screws loose before inserting the seating/sleeping section into the legs/frame, DO IT! If they aren't super loose, it will not fit, and you could accidentally break it. 3. Don't forget to install the metal brackets under the legs. I almost did and I was so happy to see even more care put into the product by including more hardware for extra support and durability. Overall, I am super happy with my purchase. Frame went together fine, though it was missing a piece of dowl rod. I just carved a piece of wood down & used that. But the main problem is that the bed doesn't stay on it in couch mode since there are no hooks or plates on the front.. An easy fix, just gotta go find something at the hardware store & screw it on; Kind of odd tho, since that's a standard feature for futon frames. Affordable, does the job. Glad to have a working frame again. My Bed, for anyone interested; I bought an 8" foam/memory foam mattress from Costco and just had to remove the High Density 4" bottom layer so it would fold for the couch, which left me with the 2" of low density foam still attached to the 2" memory foam on top; To which I then added my 3" latex foam topper, which ends up being a pretty soft mattress; but that makes it possible to fold by myself, and is way more comfortable than any standard futon mattress. ... show more

Very pleasantly surprised. Wood was glued finished hardwood (from 1" strips) -- looks and feels good. All materials had number labels and color codes. Instruction manual was clear and straightforward. I assembled the futon in a couple of hours with no trouble.

Great quality/durable product, it was also not a complicated assembly (be sure all screws remain hand tight until assembly is complete, it really helps to have movement at the end of the final assembly stage), this futon frame is definitely worth the price!!!

Frame looks great! Delivered without damage. Easy to assemble, except for the final step, which really needs two people to set in place the slatted frame on its base because the sliders on each end must be aligned to the grooves on the inside of each arm. I tried without help and I dropped it on top my foot. Play it safe and ask for help with that last step! ... show more

I just built it. haven't used it yet. This was by far the easiest piece of furniture to put together that I have ever assembled. Would have been easier with two people, but I did it just by myself without any trouble. I would recommend watching the assembly instructions on the website first. I watched how to put together the back, then paused the video and went and put that part together, The seat is almost identical to the back. Then I watched the rest of the video and assembled the rest. The slats come strapped together, making less overall pieces to identify and mess with. I recently helped someone put a different brand futon together and there were a million pieces to sort through and organize. This was so simple compared to that. Also, the allen wrench that came with this is pretty big. I did use a screwdriver with an allen tip, but the included tool is pretty good compared to the tiny things that come with most furniture and is certainly usable. A few tips: Open the hardware carefully, You will be pleasantly surprised. Its all laid out and labeled for which step they are for. When you get near the end to the step where you are putting together the arms/base, it says to keep the bolts on the extenders loose. KEEP THEM LOOSE. Like really, really loose. It will make the next step of sliding in the top sooo much easier. Mine were not loose enough and I had to loosen them to get the top to slide into place. Make sure the top is open/flat when sliding it on top. Seems obvious, but I wasn't really thinking and it was easier for me to pick it up by myself while folded. Unfold it! Cumbersome to pick up flat, but easier to slide into place once it's on top of the base. And this step probably would have been a lot easier with two people. I stupidly fumbled around trying to maneuver one side into place with it folded and the bolts too tight, by myself. More work than necessary. Just make sure bolts are very loose, seat and back are flat, and get a helper. Everything else is very intuitive and easy to put together, but like I said, the video on their website is super helpful too. I'm really looking forward to using this.
