This is a fantastic frame and it is incredibly priced! It assembles easily if you follow the written instructions; they are easy to read and you can tell they haven't been translated from another language, so proper English is used throughout. All pieces are marked with a letter or number, even each screw. At the actual first glance, one might feel overwhelmed but when you look closer, it is apparent how well written and how well planned the assembly process is. I get overwhelmed easily when there are a lot of pieces or parts, but not this time. For this order, I did not purchase the futon because I already own one. It's easiest to have two people work on this but one can do it just fine. Nothing is heavy, but a 2nd person is helpful when positioning some of the longer boards. The wood is very high quality and stained well. Those boys at Kodiak in Georgia sure do know how to manufacture a product that is sturdy, proudly made in America...and that looks great! My 8" thick futon fit right on this frame without any trouble at all. There is enough room between seat and back so that it curves upward and isn't inclined to slip that way. It's really, really comfortable as a 2nd sofa and as a bed it is super comfy to sleep on. All of the materials included are well made and you can tell that the hardware is not some pot metal weak stuff that breaks. The real deal. I know I sound like a Kodiak sponsor but I am not. I am just incredibly impressed with this company and will order more from them. (I would be if they asked me to though, because they are that good at what they do). My grandon's metal futon frame broke and needed to be replaced, so we decided to try a wood frame. This was fairly easy to put together, but was a "two man" job. It supports a 6" thick futon mattress, and my only concern is how durable the wood slats might be, as I've seen reviews where some were broken! Probably best for only sleeping rather than other activities! And the height from the floor is shorter than the previous metal frame, so not much can be stored under it. ... show more

I have broken several futon frames in the past and decided to try this one. At this point I refuse to spend much on the frame( as they don't last long enough to justify cost). This bed has nice sized slats and perfect spacing, I haven't broke it yet and I was standing on it to test it. I use two mattresses, always have as one just isn't enough, so that could explain why I don't even feel the gaps. It came in one single box that was surprisingly small but 8 feet long 😆 I was laughing so hard when I saw the box I though it was missing one. 😂. Assembly was a breeze too. Easy to understand instructions, nicely packaged hardware with extra screws. I assembled this bed in less space than it lays out to, and it only took me an hour, having to build it piece by piece and then assembling those bigger pieces. I built this by myself as well so it is not complicated. It is recommended to have help in lifting and Assembly. But I have been in manual labor Assembly for years so this was so easy. It is also real wood, you can see the grain in the stain. Not thar particle board crap. Will definitely buy again if I need a new bed in the future. ... show more

I would not have purchased this if I knew then what I know now. 1.. It is very difficult to put together. Almost all the furniture I buy has to be assembled. The directions on this were not very clear, and it took hours. I was doing it by myself, which made it even more difficult. 2. Once you have it put together, it is neither comfortable as a couch (because it is inches only off the floor) or comfortable as a bed (because the structure is lumpy). 3. It is not stable. When you have it up as a couch, and sit on it, it’s semi rocks when you initially make contact. The angles at which you can set it are really only comfortable for teenagers. 4. In order to return it, they insist that you fit it back into the same box (which would be impossible) and pay to have it shipped to them. 5. It was scratched upon arrival. 6. Think carefully before you decide to buy it. If you are a futon person, you will like it - the frame is solid wood and the finish is attractive. ... show more

I bought this to replace my frame in my living room since I tend to use these when I use my computer. Instructions are vague at times and either they expect me to read minds because in the instructions 'seat side down'. Problem here is there is nothing telling me which side this is. I had to really look at the pictures to see what the heck they are talking about. Some pieces fit to loose and others are really tight. It sits way to low to the ground so I cannot use this for what I bought it for. Waste of money. Not happy, and just going to use it as a bed for my second bedroom. I’m having an absolutely awful time trying to set it up. The head frame doesn’t even screw in properly. The holes weren’t drilled proper distances apart, and also the part that locks the back into an upright position doesn't align with the grooved. I followed the instructions and this thing does not piece together properly… I’m afraid I wasted $200, effort, and my personal space on some junk. By the way, it’s made of wood and I just keep it flat all the time because of the incomplete set up ... show more
