Update: I cannot fault the chain. The tech who installed this must have measured wrong and used 2 quick connect chain links. I think that had too much flex. I bought same brand chain, but not the hollowed type...and used single quick connect and had no issues since. Old..... I bought the 11 speed full hollow. I was doing a 40 mile ride...she broke while climbing a not soo steep hill. I climbed extremely steep hills 3 miles before, so was shocked it broke. Originally I assumed it was the quick link, but further investigation showed it was the chain that popped. I will buy an KMC full next time...full pin and full chain plate and bought a 5 pack quick link. I was stranded and had to get a buddy drive 35 miles to get me. ... show more

After this was already enroute to me I was distressed to read more reviews and comments on the supplier and learn that some buyers evidently got counterfeit KMC chains...but I inspected the packaging and the chain itself carefully and am 99% sure that it is authentic. Runs and shifts fine so far and FWIW replaced and identical original X11EL that came on my bike new. ... show more

Chain runs quiet, good looking on bike. Master link slots are so tight that the link is tough to install even with link pliers. If you expect to need to break link in the field, better pack your master link pliers!

Unfortunately I'm not sure if the chain I received was a defect. On my 1st ride with it, the chain bent when I shifted to change gears. It was working flawlessly on my bike trainer till I used it outside for the first time. I never had this problem with shimano chains. Decided to go back to shimano instead. The chain is light and definitely looks good on the bike. The connectors were easy to use. I will admit the KMC gold chain looks better on my bike. But I'm sticking with shimano. ... show more
