I have tried multiple camping pillows (memory foam, inflatable and hybrid), and this is by far the best. I love the dual cover (waterproof for storage and jersey knit for use), and that it is removable and washable. The pillow itself is adjustable, with a zipper opening to add or remove memory foam to customize to your desired loft. I like a more supportive pillow (side sleeper), so I added some extra foam to mine, while the base amount was perfect for my husband. The pillow is small (we got the regular size, not the large one), but is large enough to be comfortable. It's about the size of a lumbar support throw pillow. It does not pack down super small (this is not a backpacking pillow), but is way smaller than a regular bed pillow, and the provided Velcro strap lets you squish it down some. The first time we used this pillow camping, it rained badly all night and our tent was leaking. If it wasn't for this pillow, I honestly wouldn't have made it through the night. Just having a soft, comfortable place to lay my head made all the difference. I was writing this review in my head while water was dripping into our tent. And when we got home, I just unzipped the covers, threw them in the washing machine and set the pillows in the sun to air out. Worth every penny! ... show more

I use this pillow for kayak camping on the rivers. So need something that is able to be smashed down and packed away! This pillow will smash down in a compression sack really well. If backpacking and looking for a pillow this would be better than a blow up one. Having the dual pillow case is also a big help in being functional during travel and sleep. ... show more

Admittedly,I just received the pillow today, and haven't used it in the outdoors. But as a 40+ year old man, figured I could recreate what it feels to sleep on the bare ground, to determine the loft of the pillow. So threw the pillow on the carpet of my room and rested my head where the pillow lay. I added a some Lego's and a few dog toys to recreate the topography of the the outdoors for added realism. It took me about 5-10 sec to realize the other review, stating he added more shredded foam was correct, in pointing out that there wasn't enough to begin with. My second realization was that within a few seconds the shredded foam had compressed into a solid state beneath my head and was uncomfortable. I love the idea of the integrated pillow case and cover, very ingenious and easy to use. My experience may not be your experience, so I wouldn't necessarily shy away from this product, because it is a good quality product, just not right for me. ... show more

These pillows are great! Not only do they crunch down, they are plenty comfortable when sleeping on them. The part that surprised me the most is you can have one section is water resistant (green) meant to protect the pillow during travel, but then when you want to go to bed you simply open up the pillow and shake the pillow down into the comfortable soft side (grey) and go to sleep.     • Very Comfy Pillow for Camping

Recently purchased and used this pillow (size large, color green) on a 7-day rafting trip and am very satisfied with it for level of comfort it provided and the relative ease of being able to pack it into a compression sack with my quilt and sheet system (Zen Bivy 40 F Synthetic Quilt and Light Sheet used on a Nemo inflatable pad). I've used many camping and backpacking pillows by most major manufacturers (Thermarest, Nemo) and this pillow is by far more comfortable and closest to an actual pillow you would sleep on at home in your own bed. Pros: Very comfortable for a foam-filled pillow. The pillow will expand after you open it from the packaging so let it sit for a day or so before using so that it fully expands for maximum loft. The pillow will have a slight plastic-like odor but quickly dissipates after a few hours. The dual-use pillow cover is a great feature. The soft, cotton-like side feels great to sleep on and when you're not using it, you can use the other side/layer to keep it clean and while storing or packing away for the day. The pillow cover is also easy to wash (cold water, delicate cycle, air dry). I slept on the pillow for 3 nights in my own bed before using it another 7 nights while camping on the rafting trip and had no neck pain, no weird pressure or discomfort on my ears (while sleeping on my side) and the pillow seemed to maintain a consistent loft. The foam blocks/pieces felt consistently distributed and soft (none protruded in any annoying manner). The pillow also stayed relatively cool even on warm nights (temps around 70 to 75F). Cons: On day 5 of my trip, the white graphics/logo started to peel off the the pillow cover (it appears to be some sort of cheap laminate) but this didn't affect the performance/comfort of the pillow in anyway only the aesthetics if that matters to you. I was stuffing the pillow in a compression bag with my quilt and sheet everyday so that likely caused the graphics/logos to peel-off. Other than this minor issue, the pillow hasn't shown any durability concerns. Bottomline: This is a "glamping" style pillow. It's not small, it compresses okay (not great), it's not lightweight, but it is very, very comfortable. I would not use this pillow for backpacking or any type of trip where weight and space are priorities. Instead, this is a pillow best for car camping and other trips outdoors where you're not concerned about pack weight or space and just want a comfortable night's sleep. ... show more

Got this for a backpacking hunt for spike camps Tested it in my backyard and it’s super comfortable and supportive Unfortunately it’s heavy and doesn’t pack down well. I couldn’t justify the weight and space it took in my backpack so I had to leave it at basecamp It’s great for a general base camp pillow…but at that point why not just get a big comfy pillow ... show more

It’s supper comfortable and soft. I love it but the large is not great for back packing is just slightly smaller than a normal pillow and only folds in half. I will keep it for truck camping but I will buy the smaller one or the my pillow travel for backpacking. Only giving 4 stars because of how big it is.
