  • ‘77. Need More Be Said?
As a KISS fan from ‘76 this show is right where the band was reaching superstar status in my mind (and around the world) and while I would be obsessed with them for only a few more years I would never stop listening to their early music so this is a perfect set list. As a review of the vinyl I’d say the quality of the records is perfectly fine and the cover, while not that flashy, has that bootleg/soundboard feel. I’m a bit disappointed there isn’t a booklet, poster or some other insert as that was a big part of what KISS did back in the day. Let’s talk sound quality. We can’t expect much from a soundboard recording as it’s not mixed like a studio or live album. That being said I did expect the vinyl to offer better quality over streaming. Doing an A/B I don’t hear that much difference, if any. If I had to do it all over again and buy the album I think I’d pass. If you’re new to KISS grab Alive! first. It was the gateway into KISS for me and is my #1 album of all time. Also, get Alive II before this. With both of those under your belt you could grab a few early studio albums and then if you are loving it all, add this to your collection. At the time I bought the album the image shown is with the German logo but I was sent the regular lightning bolt logo which, based on another review, I was hoping to get. ... show more

  • Lunchbox Kiss at their best !
The first kiss chapter I believe is up to Alive (young ,edgy and hungry)then the second chapter starts at Destroyer. By the time they are touring for Alive ll they are already conquering heroes enjoying their spoils. This is almost a companion piece to Alive ll ,except it’s a full show ,no new songs and not doctored up ,the truth and nothing but the truth, unadulterated, raw kiss at their height of 70s comic book, lunchbox, mego dolls best ,not yet overwhelming the market w solo albums and Hanna-Barbera films, and what magic it is. Everyone shines and as much as we remember and loved them especially if we grew up at that time w them ,it’s still a shocking reminder to me how much better they were (than even me a super fan that was knee deep in kiss fandom at the period and saw 2 concerts from that tour ) remembers . Gene is at his sleazy, lovable monster best,w some amazing underrated kiss baselines and that classic Gene Voice he had back then that later changed into something also awesome but different when the era would change. Paul reminds me also why he probably was the greatest Rock God of that time ,his singing is raw and iconic, his rhythms in your face w swagger and I believe Also underrated. And two of the other magic ingredients Ace ,his solos totally on fire and his playing very impressive back then ,everything you hear of him on this recordings you can feel is making Rock History and about to inspire and launch many up and coming Rock guitarist. Peter who gets a lot of flack sometimes is the biggest reminder for me how crucial he was to their chemistry and that chemistry of the fearsome foursome was total magic. Peter is the Ringo (and I mean that as an amazing accolade,Ringo is another drummer who I believe is underrated and gets some flack) &Charlie Watts of kiss ,he doesn’t have the bombast maybe or technical proficiency as his future replacements but he has the swing, swagger and groove that I believe is missing after he was gone. And that voice he added, was another gem in kiss’s music, hard Rock Motown, many have sang Black Diamond but no one had that great Rock voice as he did imo. The setlist is great ,most all the classic Kiss staples at that time even if they dropped some songs from the previous Love Gun tour. Naysayers can laugh but Kiss may have been the heavy metal Beatles. ... show more

  • Excellent show so so sound
It's great to hear the band in a full concert from this time period. However, when I see off the soundboard, I expect a bit better quality. I collect many (well over 100) bootlegs and have soundboards from the 60's, and 70's that sound better. Don't get me wrong, it's very listenable just not the best sound quality. Still a great show and setlist. ... show more

  • Why?…
My wife just bought this for me for my b’day. Have been a KISS fan for 45 years. While I love the idea of the four original members this is truly a disappointing cd. KISS of 1977 would not have put this out, the sound quality is horrible. KISS in the their prime would have NEVER put this out, music is great , sound quality is just horrible. This was just put out for $$$$…..so very disappointed ... show more
