  • Helps with drilling in difficult places and angles
This is my second one. I gave my first one to my son in law who does not have a drill press. Shortly afterwards, I found that I needed it again. I ordered a second one for me. This does not replace a drill press and it can drill in places a drill press cannot reach. It is NOT an all steel, throw it around and bang it up tool for ham fisted users. On the other side it is not a delicate tool that will break from just touching it either. Take care of it and it can drill great holes within its range of 45° to 90° and hold the angle as you drill. When I need special angles, I use a protractor or combination gauge to set the angle. Holds the angle well as I drill. I don't use it often but when I need it, it works well. One thing that affects its drilling is how sharp the bits are. I keep my bits drill bits sharp. I have used forstner bits also. I have a cheap set of forstner bits and it is a bit of a struggle to keep the base from wiggling. I purchased a higher priced set of quality forstner bits and the base does not wiggle when drilling. The point is: This jig does its work WELL with SHARP bits that don't have to be "forced" to make a hole. But that goes without saying on all drilling. ... show more

  • The shaft bent the first day I used it when my drill bit bound up. It was a waste of money.
Everything was great the first six holes I drilled but on hole seven by drill bit bound up, just for a second. When I backed it out I noticed a wobble. Turns out the shaft bent on the portable press. Now it’s worthless.

  • Hard to get an exact angle on both sides
Since both sides are free floating, you're really just hoping that you have them set at the same mark, otherwise you're drilling wonky holes. This worked well when paired with a digital angle measure (sold here as well). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CZGZ93H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ... show more

  • Decent Jig
Came as ordered, sturdy. Lock screws able to secure tightly. Polymer and metal. Nice and weighty. Works with any hand drill under the sun.

  • Excessive lateral movement
This basically works as advertised. I selected this because it can lock down both sides in the angle adjustment. But there’s still excessive lateral movement. So care is required to drill a hole square to the surface. But reasonable at the price point.

  • Accuracy and repeatability are a problem.
The reason accuracy and repeatability are a problem is that you will not be able to align mating parts correctly. There is far too much play on the guides. I had to return this product because it was not precise enough.

  • Makes repeat process of drilling pilot holes on 32* a piece of cake
Used this for the new stainless steel cable handrails on the stairs . Set the degree mark & spacing then had the perfect alignment thanks to this for the pilot holes of the cable anchor into the wood railing.

  • manufactured and designed to not function
The designer and manufacturer of this product must be cognitively impaired. There is no other explanation for the poor quality, unintelligent design and manufacturing precision so poor that use as intended is impossible. I can't believe Amazon would sell something so inferior that it makes the Tacoma narrows bridge look like an engineering masterpiece. ... show more
